It depends on what you want/need/like. Melbourne is bigger but has worse weather. There are more cultural events in Melbourne and more jobs but not so many lovely beaches in striking distance. Brisbane has tropical storms and humidity but is an easy city to get around in, though I've only been in the CBD. Brisbane is in possibly the 2ndor 3rd most conservative state, politically and culturrally, but the city itself is quite progressive, while Melbourne right now is quite progressive and the state is tidy, pretty efficient and close to several other states.

Hi! I think both places have their charm but I must admit having lived in Melbourne for a good many years, I have to say Melb! Brisbane is kind of quiet, not much goes on however, Melbourne is a cosmopolitan place, quite modern.
Good luck!

Brisbane because the weather is much more sunnier than gloomy Melbourne. In the north of Brissy is the Sunshine Coast and in the south is the Gold Coast....beach life is naturally beautiful.

Hi,

Canberra is a great place to live as well. Everything is really close and we have plenty of cycle paths to ride on and we have lakes, tree lined streets, friendly people, no traffic jams compaired to other bigger cities like Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane and there's plenty of work available as well.

If your interested in moving to Canberra with our great lifestyle with cafe's, restaurants, bushwalking, lake cruises, large number of events and festivals all year round and lots of other things too.
