Why is this asked in the religion section?

My husband, and all his family and friends, are American. I'm Canadian.

He and I quite often tease each other about our accents, mostly because we both think the others accent is absolutely adorable.

His family has never been anything but completely polite to me and have never said anything rude.

His friends though, thats another thing entirely. I've been compared to Dudley Do Right. They make nasty comments about my government. And more. Mind you, my husband has asked them to stop it and they have.

However, as to other Americans... let me tell you some incidence's that have happened to me....

When I was around 19 or 20, I was working in the information booth at our local mall. This bunch of Americans came up to me, and one of them asked me if we barter for stuff like in Mexico. I just blinked at him for a second and couldn't speak at the sheer and utter stupidity, then I burst out laughing. I'm sorry it was incredibly funny that he would say that. But it does show how bad the American education system is that he'd even ask that.

I even had an American tell me that they used to think that we actually do live in igloos, drive dog sleds to work, and wear seal skin coats. That is, until he came up here to live for a while and realized we're almost exactly like the Americans.

I've been told I'm communist because of our health care system.... wth?.... Canada is a democracy too.

I think the American education system is extremely lacking. They don't learn about other countries, because they don't have to. And they really should.

Edit: Hey kevin, it can reach 120 degrees fehr during the summer. Its not too cold. And we have alot of big cities, just not as many as you do and more than just Toronto. Toronto is just the biggest.

You guys are cool. I've been there a couple times, so I don't speculate off what I've heard from others. It's a pretty nice place to live, especially Vancouver. It's a bit dreary during the fall/winter though. It can get depressing at times. But what do I know...I live in Florida!

Laccrose is NOT Canada's favorite sport! It's Hockey!! Oh, and the metric system? Not a big fan of it.

lol @ living in igloos. I have an online friend who lives in Canada and we tease constantly about having to use a generator to run his puter in his igloo. ;-) Though I know better than to think Canadians really live in igloos rofl!!! The one's I have met are great people and are basically like Americans, with the exception that they don't come across as arrogant as some of the other Americans I know (especially when it comes to Religion).

And I thought hockey was Canada's fave sport... ;-)

It's all good, eh? =)

I only live 20 miles from Canada. My middle son is married to a Saskatoon girl. God bless Canada. On the plus side.. There are many good and Godly people in Canada. We had 2 Canadian families that would drive down every Sunday to attend church at our little country Bible chapel. Both relocated to different provinces. One out of 10 cars I see on the road have Canadian plates. Hockey is Canada's favorite sport! On the minus side, the Govt of Canada is farther along into liberal, social ,atheistic, secular humanistic political correctness ala Europe than the US is. Unfortunately we are not far behind and both countries are heading in the wrong direction. True Christian revival is needed badly in both countries. I fear Europe is lost and Christianity is nearly dead there. Only 20% of the Swedes even believe in God now. However there is a remnant in Europe even today that have not bowed to Baal. As the world heads for Armageddon may God have mercy on us all. Come to Christ North America, come to Christ!

I've never been to Canada but when I think of Canada I think hockey, lots of snow, and maple syrup. Probably typical of someone who lives in the US. Never heard the igloo thing...lol I don't personally know anyone whos Canadian, though I would suspect you guys aren't all that different from anyone else.

Americans like most people think Canadians live in Canada. What do you think of Americans?

America is a continent (two of them, actually) not a country. Canadians are referred to as "Americans" in some older British literature. That's what i think. You are also Americans.

So what's the geographically correct term for someone who lives in the US? Usians? LOL! I KNOW! Users.

I think Canada is a great country. It has wonderful people and gorgeous landscapes. I've been to every province except for Nunavut, Yukon, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories. I go visit my northern neighbors every chance I get.

Generally friendly
Nice place to visit
not as secular as EUrope , not as religious and the US
I was surprized to hear some one say business in MOntreal must be conducted in French.
Most CHristian colleges in Canada have much more liberal views on creation than the US and it would be harder to get a rounded CHristian education there and more likely to be taught a secular world view
