It's BAD BAD BAD. That pup should be with it's Mother / Littermates until it's at least 8 weeks old, if not 10-12.

Don't do it unless the mother is very ill or, by necessity like she died! At 23 days, you will be hand feeding practically around the clock. If you must supplement mom's milk because she's not producing enough, there are special products sold in pet stores that you can feed the pup, but cow's milk will not provide the proper nutrients. I have a friend who is an animal whisperer and she talked to my dog. He wasn't ready to separated from his mom and, boy, does he have issues from it! I thought it was from abuse, but it wasn't. Don't wean for at least 3 months. The puppy's mother will start the process. Go to the library or book store and get a copy of "A Dog of Your Own"; it contains a wealth of information.

BY THE WAY, IT IS ILLEGAL IN MANY PLACES TO TAKE A PUP FROM MOM BEFORE 8 OR 10 WEEKS!

VERY BAD..... a pup should be with it's mum for at least 8 -12 weeks before any sort of weaning it started. The mum will let you know by ignoring the pups when they want "mum's milk" 5-6 times a day. She will start the process. Go to your vet for advice on the weaning programme and the pups should thrive.

why is this bad , 3 weeks old , could eat soft food but still needs moms milk to build strong bones. Also if on only dog food diet at this age puppy will be very susceptible to diarrhea so could become dehydrated and sick. Pup may not drink enough from bowl to stay hydrated.
Needs integration with litter mates and mom ,If it dose not have mother, litter mate interactions could have separation anxiety as an adult dog, neurotic behaviours, poor social skills with other dogs , such as aggression and fear biting . . At this age very susceptible to viruses and diseases should not be off the home property.

Definitely not good. They need the development with the other pups and mom in order to properly mature! Very hard in every way on them, and as the others said, I think it should only be done if absolutely necessary.

That puppy is less than 4 weeks old- which means it still needs to nurse. So yes, it is bad unless there is a huge problem with the momma.

The normal time is 8 weeks. Four weeks is too young they are barley starting to eat a puppy formula.

Just go and tell them you can't see. You are supposed to go get new ones like every year. I go like twice a year to get new ones because my eyes keep getting worse. When you are older you'll be able to laser eye surgery so you wont have to use glasses.

That is just over three weeks and it is far too young to separate the puppy from its mother and its siblings. 8 weeks would be the absolute minimum.
