Take a long walk

Go for a very brisk walk after half an hour (not straight away) so as to burn it off as fuel. A slow-paced walk won't be as effective, it really needs to be a brisk walk. Directly after a heavy meal, drink some ginger tea, sage tea (if the meal was heavy in fat) or chew some fennel seeds to promote good digestion.

Well in all honesty it may be a good idea to make the next meal a light one too :)

Best wishes.

I agree, taking a long walk is just right for burning the calories you picked up. I would NOT reccomend taking a nap, because then all the calories you ate are being unused, and turning to fat. Essentially, food is fuel, so the more you eat, the more fuel you have to burn off. Now, just after you've eaten, you don't want to do too much because your body would need the energy to exercise, digest, keep your heart beating and your lungs breathing, and all the things that your body does. Overdoing it causes cramps. But maybe 10-20-30 minutes after you've eaten a meal, you want to work it off.

NUTS, Sorry but nuts do help to "sink" a heavy meal, but of course the smart thing to do is not to eat to excess in the first place. If your are already thinking of the next meal having just had a bellyful you are heading for obesity I would say,

Well, you could poop. LOL

But it's best not to eat a huge meal. It's not good for any reason. Moderation is the key.

The only things that ever work for me are either a nap, or moving and walking around. But nothing that involves bending over.
