I'm not looking for opinions on the conflict, but what countries would do what if the US used force on Iran. Iran's leader makes it seem like the US is alone in wanting to dismantle the Iranian Nuclear Program, and that it's "safe" from US attack. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071026/ap_o...

But obviously Israel would be right there alongside the US entering Iran. But what would other countries do? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071026/ap_o...
Would Europe help the US with an invasion? Britain probably would, but what about any of the others? Would Russia actually come down and fight against the US, Israel, and part of Europe with Iran over there new puppet Iran? Would the new tension with Russia and the EU/the US over missile defense have any weight in the issue?

Not looking for a direct answer to each question, just basically, how would the world react?

When the time comes for military actions you will know. I would commend the current administration for challenging the Iranian Military and Government with sanctions. The more we address this issue with these actions the more favorable it will be received by foreign countries. Patience, the ball is in Iran's court now.

It would certainly be a provocative action by the US to invade yet another country without a direct assault by the country being invaded. It would not be a good thing to do to the world economy...unlike the threat of Germany taking over the oil fields, this would throw the world into a chaotic condition without having to defend from a tyrant taking over the world.

I agree that the Iranian government is a bunch of kooks, but we have to use every guile we can to push them into a more peaceful stance...that includes threats and bribery if necessary...but to use military force at a point where other possibilities are possible is reckless.

But the more we threaten them, the more intractable they will become...I am in favor of the recent sanctions because it is a direct evolution to a violent outcome...the Iranians certainly see this as a stepping stone to war...if they really are crazy they will continue to act erratically, if they are logical they will see the moment when they can get the best possible deal and take it.

As far as other countries either supporting Iran or the US...you will see countries joining either side along historical divisions...and that will happen as things gets more heated...that doesn't mean war necessarily, but does mean a committment to a possible war...as the sides line up one may back down in the face of overwhelming numbers...I';m sure world opinion means little to the Iranians (or even GW Bush) but the fact of numbers will be the telling card

The UN will sit by and do nothing. One or more of France, China and Russia will abstain or veto any UN security council resolution so nothing will get done - pretty much like Iraq.

The EU will sit by and do nothing as one of the other of France, Germany and Italy will block any action - pretty much like Iraq.

Desperately poor former Soviet Union countries like Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will offer the US the use of their airbases in return for oodles of cash and/or foreign aid - pretty much like Iraq.

Former East European countries that desperately want to join NATO and be seen as US allies will send a token couple of hundred troops at best - pretty much like Iraq.

The UK, Spain and Australia will have huge anti-war rallies from a public that is very much against this, but despite the polls, the politicians will send the troops in anyway just so Dubya isn't alone out there - pretty much like Iraq.

Al Queda will gain more members - pretty much like Iraq.

The US will go in all guns blazing without any real plan for what happens afterwards - pretty much like Iraq.

Iran will probably launch a few Scud missiles towards Israel - just like Iraq.

If Israel fights back or gets involved, then all hell will break loose - which thankfully didn't happen in Iraq.

Russia will make disapproving noises, but won't actually do anything either way and just watch from the sidelines - just like in Iraq. Ditto China.

They'll be more terrorist attacks in the US, UK and the West, especially from 'home grown' terrorists who were born here - just like what happened after Iraq.

Muslims will go on the streets and start burning effergies of George Bush and the American Flag, but that kind of thing happens all the time!

First thing US may get NATO support to attack Iran, but do u recall the history (Rome, British, Napoleon,Hitler.... empires downfall) note the same thing happening hear, if u strict too much u will tare in to pieces, and Iran has much strong Air defense, lot of surface to surface missile, anti ship missiles( all US base under range for Iran missile, they even have stealth missile Fajr-3 carry , hoot world only under water missile, noor anti ship missile) and all Nuclear facilitates are in under ground ( too deep for bunker blaster bomb) they have split there work in many place.

very difficult Time for US, only way is peace(like North Korea, Libya).

Watch the shitstorm fallout ensue and those comparable human beings narc on me for telling them, "I instructed you so!" (no person learns! >shakes head<)
