it would depend on the extent of your convictions but in most instances it would be fine. my brother joined up after being a bit of a bad lad and it was good for him until he was called out to iraq. there he saw his cousin blown up and when he came back 2 months later he was very depressed and angry. the army shouldnt be taken as an option to escape it all as it can often make things ten times worse. my little brother is in afghanistan just now and is forever saying how bad things are and how he wishes none of us ever have to see things like what goes on out there. to be honest you dont actually make as much money as people think in the army its just that your wages add up while your away fighting and who knows if you will be coming back to spend it!! good luck with your decision!!

Having a criminal conviction does not bar you from joining the British Army, though it is necessary to tell them about it on your forms and be honest. It also depends whether your conviction is long enough ago to be "spent" or not. Even if it hasn't, you can still join, though it depends exactly what your conviction is!! Even not being able to spell correctly doesn't matter, as you don't need any qualifications either, so if you left school without any GCSEs the Army will still have you. The only thing you do need is a good level of physical fitness as you'll need to pass a medical. I wouldn't expect piles of cash though - the rank-and-file are very underpaid and often underequipped as well. Many personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan buy their own equipment rather than standard Army-issue things, so if you want to live to spend any of this mythical "real cash" you'll first have to spend a lot of it on some decent Kevlar body armour and hope that Gordon Brown doesn't plan on invading Iran next!!

Depending on what you done in the past, then it shouldn't be a problem, get into the Careers Office and Get some details. but don't join the infantry its a hard life, get a trade be a driver, chef, Radio operator, the last two get a very high rate of pay. Do it!!
Ignore the persons comment about spelling, Don't worry about it the army will teach you everything you need to know and more. Most of the time it lives on Abbreviation's.

I'm not British, but I'd have to say it would probably matter on the extent of your crimes.
Most people don't want to give a gun to someone who has a violent past and tendency. Try looking on the British Army website. Or call a recruitment office perhaps.

Off course it is Haram for a Muslims to join a group that is killing other Muslims. Just like it is haram for England to launch military aggression against another NATO member. Btw, you should know that Britain is not engaged in wars that are legal or moral. It's not just Haram for Muslims to engage in illegal military action, it is also haram for you as well.
