In any school that I know of High School does not begin until the 9th grade but some school districts mainly place the 8th grade and sometimes even the 7th and 6th grades into a High School for the purpose of building utilization.

AP classes are very difficult. They are in most schools the equivalent of high level college classes. US History is usually taught again in the 11th grade. Why don''t you wait until then?

AP in 9th grade is not a college-level class. I'ts probably a 10th grade-level class. As long as your strong in social studies, you'll probably be fine. Your teacher would not recommend it if he/she didn't think you could make it.

Don't worry!!! If your teacher thinks that you are capable enough to handle an AP class, then you are. It's basically the same stuff, but it's more challenging.
