I looked this medication up for you in Yahoo! web search. There is much information there which you may want to know; too much to relate here. The following info is just a highlight. Xanax (alprazolam) is a benzodiazepine drug precribed for panic attacks and anxiety. It is addictive and withdrawal should be done with the supervision of a doctor. It is a drug subject to abuse so must be kept from unauthorized users. It should not be taken if you are pregnant or nursing an infant. It does not seem to be affected by caffeine.

The extended release tablets should not be subdivided or broken up. They release medication slowly into the body and if broken may release it too fast.

I suggest you look this med up in a web search and/or discuss it with your prescribing physician as it appears to be a problematic medication.

Good luck, good mental health, peace and Love!
