When Fred Phelps or one of his followers dies, people should go to the funeral and bring cheerleaders, booze, loud music, and kegs.

You are referring to the Westboro Baptist Church. These people believe that because the US "condones" homosexuality that this is the reason that soldier's are dying in Iraq. In other words, you are dealing with moronic lunatics. In my home state, motorcycle groups have taken to protecting the funerals from these nut cases, and if I could I would buy all those bikers a beer! Also, a new law was passed that says that they MUST be at least 500 feet away from the funeral if they are protesting. As for me, I think these people should be deported - preferably to some of the more dangerous places in Iraq - then we can see if the Lord is "on their side" or not by whether or not they walk out in one piece. You are right - it IS sick!!!

Technically, that's constitutional by utilising the 1st replace - as long because it quite is non violent. yet that would not make it real. they could desire to stop and picture approximately how they could experience if it have been their chum being laid to take a seat back with a collection of protesters extraordinary around asserting they are ineffective by using fact God is punishing them for... despite reason the protesters got here up with. it is so previous rude and hurtful - i don't even have the words. Do unto others as you have got others do unto you. EDIT: a community fallen soldier got here residing house some months in the past. there became into meant to be a huge protest at his funeral from some church out of state. basically approximately 5 people confirmed up and that they did not do plenty protesting, yet there have been Patriot Riders (or yet another comparable group) modern, in basic terms in case. God relax his soul and God bless our troops. P.S. cbjack - thank you to your provider! God bless you!

the worlds eyes are on a fallen soldiers funeral, nobody listens to war protesters every other day. They have the right to do it, it might be wrong, but they know that the right people will notice them.

I don't agree with any war. but protesting someone's funeral is bad, disgusting and disrespectful. I might not agree with the war but I do have respect for the dead. that would be an awful thing to do.

Well hate to sound macabre

but aren't the protests sort of falling on dead ears?

personally I think it's incredibly tacky and very distasteful. And would never participate in such an insensitive activity.

I'd much rather protest on the White House Lawn.

Picketing at a funeral in front of bleary-eyed mourners, saying their loss is nothing or even worse, DESERVED is cruel.

and by the way I am 100000% anti-war. i will still NEVER deny a fallen soldier respect. Even if i believe he was wrong in what he was fighting, even if I believe he is innocent but under wrong leadership, even if i believe he was right... it doesn't matter, I'm not going to degrade someone in death. They deserve respect.

Not only is it sick, but it's ugly and disrespectful of the deceased and his/her family.

Human nature is such, that we don't always agree on the same issues, but what it boils down to is freedom of choice, and that should be respected.

If the ones who are protesting would put themselves in that family's place, maybe then they could show some compassion.

It is NOT their judgment call!

It's sick. It is cruel. It's disgusting and offensive to protest at a fallen soldier's funeral.

A total lack of Christian ethics abounds. Fred Phelps needs to be scrtinized closely and carefully, another Jim Jones in the making I do believe. No soldier that has given his life for his country deserves to be dishonored in any way, no matter what his /her beliefs were. Fred Phelps and those that follow him be damned.

How disgusting.
These brave men and women put their lives on the line every day so assh0les such as these can sleep at night, have their BBQ's and congregations and this how they say "thank you"
Absaloutly disgraceful.
How sick do you have to be to pull that kinda crap.

I really like Paul and Cheryls replys!

I would like to take this moment to thank Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptists for making it possible to add assaults on gays and hate speeches to the list of hate crimes.
He could not have been more helpful in creating support for the legislation even if he had conducted a public lynching.

That group (Westboro Baptist) is mentally deranged.

They also protested the funerals of a group of Amish children that were killed in their school. Its not just the military although that is the primary target of their sickness.
