developing, its not third world country - its about the 100 richest out of 180 or so. it just gets buggered a lot by war and terrorism. the main indicator is HDI (Human Developing Index) in which Lebanon is considered "medium" therefore its developing

In the recent past before it had its disastrous Civil War it was one of the most fashionable resort capitals in the eastern Mediterranean, for many years a French Colony the architecture and lifestyle of its multi-ethnic population reflected this.
Even in the summer it was possible to ski on the slopes of the high mountain ranges. Some of the scenery is incredibly beautiful

After the Civil War, Beirut, which was in ruins has been rebuilt, but the unstable economic and political climate means there has been very little foreign investment.I have been there as a member of the United Nations Peace-Keeping force and have found the people to be very hospitable and warm hearted, in no way can I agree its a third world country.
