FOR centuries millions of people have believed the doctrine of the trinity, which teaches that “in the unity of the Godhead there are Three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, these Three Persons being truly distinct one from another. Thus, in the words of the Athanasian Creed: ‘The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and yet there are not three Gods, but one God.’” (The Catholic Encyclopedia) Do you believe this doctrine? Why?
Many persons think the trinity is a Christian teaching based on God’s Word, the Bible. However, early Roman Catholic writers did not hesitate to admit that the trinity could not be proved by Scripture alone. Cardinal Hosius is quoted as having said: “We believe the doctrine of a triune God, because we have received it by tradition, though not mentioned at all in Scripture.” (Conf. Cathol. Fidei, Chap. XXVI) Other persons are just as frank about declaring the trinity to be of pagan origin. Arthur Weigall, in his book The Paganism in Our Christianity, states: “Jesus Christ never mentioned such a phenomenon, and nowhere in the New Testament does the word ‘Trinity’ appear.” He says the idea of a coequal trinity “was only adopted by the [Roman Catholic] Church three hundred years after the death of our Lord; and the origin of the conception is entirely pagan.

The Trinity is nowhere mentioned in the Bible, it is a pagan belief dating well before christian times. Jesus was Gods first creation, therefore called his only begotten son & had a hand in creating everything else, including other angels. If they were one & the same, how could he resurrect himself if he was dead? Jesus said that he & the Father are one in the sense that they are unified, think alike, act alike, work together.
In short, the trinity doesn't & never did exist

Good question. The answer is no. God has always existed, which means that the Trinity has always existed. There are appearances of the preincarnate Jesus recorded in the Old Testament. In these appearances, called Christophanies or theophanies, Jesus is sometimes referred to as "the angel of the Lord." Two such appearances are recorded in Genesis 3:8 and 16:7-14.

Jesus was with God in the beginning, and so was the Holy Spirit.
Let US make man in OUR image.
And the SPIRIT moved upon the face of the waters.

No, Jesus existed before he was born here on earth. He is God and has always been just as the Father has always been.

Jesus is not the son that is spoken of in the trinity. This is a misconception of the idea.
All of creation, the entire universe and all non material or spiritual things make up the son-ship of God.
God is the creator.
The creation is the son.
The Holy spirit is the communication link between the creator and the creation.

very good question and interesting point. Star for you.
I personally believe the trinity is not one being. It is 3 distinct beings with one purpose (ie one mind). In fact, it wasn't until the Nicene creed that it was "decided" that they were one being.
