My cat came in, after being outside, with a swollen bottom lip. (Or perhaps this is the first time I noticed it) It it hasn't reduced in size for a week and actually appears to be more red and inflammed. She is eating and drinking fine though. Any ideas about what this might be?"

Yup, my cat once had a swollen upper lip that lasted for two weeks or so. We're guessing that it either came from a wasp/insect bite, or she got in a fight with a bigger cat. Anyway, she ate and drank fine, too, and the swelling simply disappeared after a couple of weeks.

Just keep a close watch on your pet, and the moment it loses appetite or seems listless, or gets a fever, take it to the vet immediately, as antibiotics may be necessary. Otherwise, it'll go away on its own

I haven't seen this in a cat, but I saw a white lab with a swollen face (it looked like he had 2 tennis balls in his cheeks - lol!). It had eaten a new food and had an allergic reaction to it.

Your cat may have been stung by a bee or have some other type of bite. Since it appears to be more red and inflamed after a week, I'd suggest you take it to the vet to check it out.

Seen both Cats and Dogs, some really funny looking when they all swelled. Usually it from a Bee Sting. But, it may have been something else. A small snake can also be the culprit. Do not worry if it was a snake, by now you can see it was not poisonous. This really what I think, as I seen this 99.9% of the time and never have seen the other .1%
If, you concerned call your Vet, most times they may tell you to just give them Benadryl (Or something). And do not give Benadryl unless the Vet say and how much.

My cat used to have a swollen foot on a regular basis. He's an indoor cat, so the problem couldn't be insect related. The vet said it was allergies and put him on Purina D/D food for allergy related skin conditions. He hasn't had this problem since then.

I have not ever seen this, but if the inflammation has grown, you may need to take her to the vet. The inflammation should have reduced by now. If it is as you said, and something happened while outside, it could be more serious that you think.
