I lived in Mexico for 10 years and Day of the Dead is colorful and fascinating. You'll have a lovely time finding out about it.
I'll give you one fact. The top destination for those wanting to watch is Janitzio, near Patzcuaro.

Fact one: The dead are surely dead. They do not exist.
Fact two: All the dead will rise to life on account of Christ.
Fact three: Some will rise to life eternal, others to judgment, or in other words, to an opportunity to obtain it.
