If you are formating to give this system away to charity (or some other organization) you will want to find a secure formatter, such as SystemWorks wipeInfo, OnTrack's DataEraser, or Jetico's BCWipe. (There are thousands of these on the Internet). And depending on how clean you want your system, set the options to how clean you want your system (each instance is different).

If you just want to format your drive to install a new copy of something, Microsoft offers formatting disks or formatting while in installation of a operating system. (Find the KnowledgeBase article here http://www.microsoft.com/australia/smallbusiness/issues/technology/protect/harddrive.mspx) (it comes from Australia but it still gets the point)

Good Luck!

Sure... just go into the DOS window and on the DOS command line type in this:

Format C:\ U

It works like a charm

NOt an easy process and you'd want to consult your computer's User Guide for sure.

The bigger question is why you'd want to do that?
