does she mention it in a insulting way? or is she jealous?. You gave little to understand the context of your question. if you feel belittled by her hair questions and comments, ask her such things as: "do you not like my hair?" Why do you ask me this all the time?" Does my hair bother you?" "Do you not like my hair style or black hair? " "Are you suggesting I change the style or color?" any kind of simple innocent question on your part would do nicely. Be sweet but be direct. If you call her on this and she has to defend why she being obsessive about YOUR hair she might think twice. Be assertive. You're obviously uncomfortable with her interogation and you seem to imply it's because of your heritage. MIL will know she is on the spot to prove why she questioning you about this repeatively. this is your HUSBAND'S mother he should be the one to tell her to bugger off with the hair questions and get over the fact who he married. He loves YOU and married YOU and he should not let you be badgered with annoying and repetitive questions regarding your hair. If you don't do this, she will get bolder and bolder and will make other annoying and possibly insulting remarks. Nip this in the bud NOW. Your husband needs to be there for you, otherwise it's mother in law running the show and problems of this kind will be FOREVER. trust me--- I've been there and I know and I should have taken my own advice. Now divorced.

You should give a few examples of what she is saying. However, it SEEMS as though she talks about hair out of insecurity because she's envious of your hair.
I had the same issue--especially when I was younger, when it was very long. Women used to say things like, "my cousin has hair like yours" or "my hair used to be that long", etc. My PERSONAL pet peeve is when people say "you've got good hair" (what the f***?)
I got so annoyed that one day I snapped at someone and told them, "you know what? Hair is hair. There is no such thing as good hair. It's not like if I tell it to roll over or sit it will. It's just like yours and everybody else's." That person gave me the stink eye, but they never mentioned it again.

You don't say what she mentions. Does she say "Long hair is a mess", or does she say "I really like long hair"? The fact is, she probably thinks your hair is gorgeous, but some people have trouble giving compliments straight out. So she just keeps mentioning it, over and over.

it depends on what she is saying. Does she say she only likes short hair or blond hair. The next time she does it ask her in a tactful way what does she mean by that.

mine is the same way,,my hair almost touches my rear end,, she tells me all the time to put it in a ponytail,,i think she does it because she has short short hair,,,and the fact that she knows it pisses me off ,, she told me yesterday it needed cut,, i said yes it does , but I don't trust no one to cut my hair,, and walked out the door ....silence at last ,,,

Maybe she likes your hair I would take that as a complement. At least she's not being a "monster-in-law"

Is she complimentary? Maybe she is being nice to you and admiring your hair! If she's saying negative things, your husband needs to step in and tell her to knock it off.
