When something doesn't make logical sense, you have to have faith.

I don't quite understand the wording of the question.

If faith covers anything it covers fact with superstition. Logical 'gaps' are arguably *more* present in so-called religious faith than in scientific enquiry.

The superstition/religious individual exploits unknown things.

As soon as phenomena or processes become known, then the superstitious mind either accepts and adapts, or it rebels and cries 'blasphemy.'

Both of your questions contain fallacies of logic.
"begging the question": an argument is assumed to be true without evidence other than the argument itself.
You asked, "Why is faith so important"? assuming it is.
You stated, "...there's no other way to fill the gaps..."
You're assuming this to be true, not proving it.

Of course. Without logical thought one can only rely on faith. And with Man providing the logic, we all need a heck of a lot of faith.

Because when they realise there is no logic, they have to rely on something, and faith is a wonderful response. Means they have to do it without a reason. When in doubt, blind belief.

No, that is not the reason that Faith is importnat.
Faith is important to me because I can't understand everything now. In time God will show us the reasons for everything, and we will understand.

If you have children, they have faith in you to do what is best for them. Your friends have faith in you. You have faith in them.

You have faith that your car will start, that you will receive a paycheck at the end of the month, that your friends will stick by you.

Faith in God is somewhat like that.
