When I was loading my groceries this morning into my hatchback, a woman came up to me with literature and asked me if my spirit was saved. It was pouring with rain and I didn't want to be bothered but I was polite enough to say no thank you I'm not interested in the literature. This particular lady accepted my answer and told me to have a nice day and went on to other people at their cars. How would you have reacted?

I would be polite, but tell them to leave me alone. I do consider myself christian, but don't want to be hasseled by those types. I am a more liberal christian.

Being that is was probably an issue of the Watchtower, I would of reacted the same way you did. But I have one better for you. The other night @ Wal-Mart around 10:00 PM there were 6 college kids urinating in the parking lot. I think I would of rather had the literature, however the other is pretty much my luck.

Have a great day!

Well first off bless your heart. Secondly it's we're supposed to go out and witness to people but to go up to them in parking lots when their trying to load groceries or whatever is silly. God gives us opportunities to witness for Him and our lives should be a witness for Him. There's nothing wrong with asking someone you don't know if they know God if the circumstances are right. But someone has to be "drawn" by the Spirit for salvation not just ok i'm saved. Some people are overzealous and need to pray for God's wisdom!

U did the right thing. You were polite, and then told her the truth. I, however, having to follow certain rules concerning others, would have firmly told her that I am not interested, and ignored her. Yes, she must be dedicated to do this in the rain, but i still think it is harrassment for someone to bother me in the rain, whilst I am doing something else, and they can see i am doing something else.

The same happen to me approximately 4 months ago...
I stood there listened and then kindly told him I wasn't interested. However,I offered him a coffee and a conversation on the grounds we wouldn't discuss religion as I am already commited;he declined ?

I think his only intention was to gain my signature,as for having a general chat and socializing it mustn't serve the criteria of his belief ?

Tell them that you are Catholic. That usually puts a damper on them. If that does not work, then tell them politely that you are not interested in what they have to say and would appreciate it if they would leave you alone. You might suggest that you have the right to believe as you wish and they have no right to impose their beliefs on you.

If that does not work, make you voice growl and tell them you are the posessed by the devil and plan to posess them as well. That shoudl get a reaction that will be worth the frustration. You might even sell that one to TV or UTube.

I always say that I'm already saved. And if they don't believe, I tell them to ask God for the truth. Then I say goodbye and leave.

Or sometimes I say : O know you're God's representative, when do I get to meet him. If you can't prove he's here, I m not dealing with you - seeing is believing.

But you handled it pretty well.

I would have thanked them and assured them I was already saved. She must be awfully dedicated to be evangelizing in the pouring rain.

I'd probably say "Thank you," then take it, just so she could feel good about herself and having "saved" someone. Maybe I'd even read it, just to give it a chance, but I'm not going to be converted through a pamphlet.

I would have done the same thing. She was nice to leave you alone after you said you were not interested. Some people are very persistent.
