"Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back"
--- Eugene O'Neill
Well they do have nine lives ;)
But it was originally supposed to have been care rather than curiosity...
"What, courage man! what though care killed a cat, thou hast mettle enough in thee to kill care." --- William Shakespeare [Much Ado About Nothing]

My younger cat is crazy, gets himself in all kinds of precarious positions and I'm sure has used up a few lives. He doesn't learn and still thinks he can take on the dog. Still hasn't learned that he can't eat the dirt from the cactus plant.
Maybe curiosity won't kill him but getting stuck behind the refridgerator just might.

cats are nosy by nature and always checking out everything in their territory and often out of their territory, which sometimes gets them into trouble. However they are very resilient and even if the worst happens, satisfaction often brings them back anyway.

It's a polite way of saying "mind your own business"...at least that's what my grandma told me.

Because....if it didn't....how else would we warn people to stop being curious?
