It took my mom about 6 weeks to get back into her regular activities and several months of physical therapy to get full use of her shoulder again.

I'm not sure if what she had was the same, but she did have shoulder surgery. She was 74 or 75 at the time and had fallen in such a way as to dislocate her scapula and collarbone and tore her rotator cuff. The dislocation was taken care of in the emergency room and surgery was performed a few days later to fix the deep tear.
