i covered the top. he found a way. he killed all of them. i just got my fish replaced. Angel fish and one flowerhorn and five goldfish. i caught him at it. i saved a fish. they're still alive today, but what do i do to make my cat stop it? he keeps finding a way. i shouldn't have trained him so well. I wouldn't want to get rid of him. or my fish either. I thought cats hated water?

Get yourself a roll of clear, 2" wide mailing tape. Cut 12" long pieces of it and lay those sticky side up on the top of the aquarium top. Cover everything you can. When the cat puts his paws up there he'll get them stuck to the tape. Let him try to get the tape off for at least 15 minutes (so the message goes in, he also won't know it was you who did the tape there), then take it off him.

Reset the trap with new tape. Once he trips the trap a couple of times he'll learn to leave the aquarium alone.

u get one of those tall stands for the tanks exact size.they come up to about an average persons waist.when the fit is right there will be no edge around the bottom at all. it should be flush with the tank glass.then u put a snap down tank lid on it and put it somewhere in the room away from chairs or bookcases etc. up against a wall is good but no tables next to it!.u get the idea. with no purchase ur cat wont be able to dive in lol! hell just have to sit and watch the fish swim back and forth.............forth and back... puurrrrrrrrrrfect! (and no cats dont hate water. thats an old wives tale!)

Some cats love water. My last one used to throw a fit and howl like someone was ripping his ears off if you didn't let him in the shower with you.

Get a very secure lid. Weight it down so the cat can't move it. Just covering the top might stop a few less than enthusiastic fish from jumping out but it isn't going to stop a determined cat from jumping in. A fitted lid will with something to weight it down should.

you should just get a lock for the tank, or u could barb wire around the tank-ignor that last answer that could hurt the cat,
u should just make sure that ur cat is feed well, keep a screen over the tank at all times and try to keep the cat in another room when u r alseep or not at home
