There are more symptoms of diabetes than just feeling hungry soon after you eat. Feeling drowsy after eating a meal high in carbohydrates or sugar. A kind of antsy, tenseness after eating sugars. Tingly, kind of shocky pains in feet. Like feet waking up from being "asleep". Feeling shaky and irritable when hungry. Blurry eyesight after eating high levels of carbohydrates or sugar. Feeling exhausted. Constant thirstiness. Frequent urination (having to get up several times during the night). If you have several of these other symptoms, then you could be diabetic. Call the Diabetes Association in your area to find out about free testing .

In the medical field, we call the symptoms of diabetes mellitus the 3 poly's: polydipsia (excessive thirst - really, really thirsty), polyuria (excessive urination), and polyphagia (excessive hunger). If you are experiencing these symptoms, go to your doc and have your blood sugar tested. Some of my patients have reported such severe thirst that they couldn't even make it to the kitchen - they had to stop off at the bathroom and get a drink from the faucet there. What basically happens is that your cells are starving and they need their food.

Try to eat foods that are higher in protein/fat. This will help curb your hunger longer since it takes longer to digestion, etc.
