Is it true that warm milk helps you sleep? Iam so desperate that I am thinking of going to the Dr. to get medicine.

I agree with "ELTON". I have tried all the over the counter sleep stuff. My doctor has prescribed sleeping pills for me & either they don't work or I wake up with a bad hang over. If I am going to have a hang over I want to have earned it the right way, not from a pill.

I use Xanax also. It is the best anxiety drug ever. I take one at night when I know I am going to have a difficult time sleeping. That is the only pill that works for me.

I would seek your doctor's advice. Warm milk sounds kind of yucky and makes me think of a cow. There are a number of sleep medications on the market, but I find that alprazolam (generic for xannax) is effective. Over the counter sleep aids seem to have a nightmare effect and for me are not effective.

Your doctor will probably not want to prescribe alprazolam (or xannax) to you for sleep, as it is intended for people with anxiety. However, my opinion is that it is anxiety that prevents some from sleeping. In talking with my doctor; he agrees and prescribes it to me. It works better than anything I have ever taken. I have taken ambien, but it is not effective.
