I'm pretty sure it's not a law in ANY state. It's voluntary. Making it a law is a ridiculous idea. Who exactly would enforce this law? The Recycle Police? Get real- my state barely has enough $$ to run our schools, support our firefighters and REAL police. We almost faced a shut down just a couple of weeks ago because the budget couldn't get balanced!

To say making recycling a law is ridiculous is ridiculous in and of itself. WAKE UP! Every heard of la andfill or global warming??

Michigan has a "bottle bill" as well. (Remember the Seinfeld when Kramer and Newman fill the mail truck with cans and drive to Michigan to cash them in?) Believe me, if you put a value of $.10 on each can, they WILL get recycled. You don't see soda cans and plastic bottles laying about as trash. People pick them up and collect the $. My father made nearly $150 in a single summer picking up stray cans during his daily walk.

Not enough that is for sure. Live in a mobile home park in Minnesota and we have no recycling at all for the whole park. I think that is shameful and have tried to get it going but no one has the ambition to separate their garbage it seems.
