Dude, I'm probably the grooviest hippie in my entire area. I'm totally vegan, and I try to be as organic as possible.
I agree with you. Some people eat meat, why are we picking and choosing what meat they can eat?
You already eat cat and dog (they are put in cattle feed to add protein) so why not let you have an old rickety horse who is loaded with tumors anyway from all the hormones pumped into its carcass to keep it going a few extra years with some fat bastard on its back whipping it every third step.
Start by eating the back of the horse, because then it will be absolutely true "you are what you eat".

Your assumption that it is illegal to eat horse meat is incorrect. There are states in the US that ban the sale of horse meat for human consumption but not all.
There are several horse processing plants in the US, the meat goes to mainly to Europe and Japan.
A few years ago meat packers tried to get the USDA to stop inspecting horse meat since all meat has to be inspected whether it is consumed in the US or other countries.
Now the horse packers must pay for the inspection but nothing has really changed.

There is a company in my home state that processes horse meat which is canned and sent to France.
What's the point of this? I know most people like to eat meat. So what. I wasn't bothering you.

Horse meat is used for pet food.
People don't eat them because they think horses are pets, like cats and dogs.
I think horses get too old before they are butchered and the meat would be too tough for humans to chew.

It appears to be an off/on issue, there are various horse slaughterhouses in Texas and other states in the US (which may or may not be operational due to the legal situation), though they export to Canada, France, Asia, etc...

That's mean, even if you don't care about what the affect causes over the animal I hope that your selfishness doesn't go unnoticed
Every single chemical, hormonal pill goes into those animals and in YOUR body
Dig into steroids, Mph, Harmon's, what that animals ate (mmmm tape worm from pigs and ticks from grass YUMMY) and all those 'Delicious' factor on the poor, tortured animal.

An excellent question!
Somewhere someone made a moral decision. No other reason.
Any bans on foods are all moral reasons, no basis for illegality beyond that.
It's all just food. Eat it.

Yeah...yay for residual pre-pubescent angst!
Uh huh, alright, so Mommy didn't get you that pony she promised you did she? I know. I know it hurts. It's ok. *pat, pat* That's it. Just let all that pent-up anger and resentment out...
Now the healing can begin...
