Thats funny. What in football is made of an animal product? Footballs are made of synthetic material, they havent been made from pig skins in years and years. And no matter what you do, people will continue to eat meat. Should the by-products (such as leather) just be thrown away? Or should it be put to use as well? I personally think that if an animal is going to be killed for any purpose, that as much of possible of it should be used, rather than thrown away as trash.

Wow, ashley actually has a valid point for once.
well a portion of a point, at least.
Football and soccer use synthetics for their balls. (insert genetalia joke here).
You missed Rugby, although mostly synthetics are used
Cows aren't killed JUST for leather. I like imagining that I've dined on the meat of the cow that became my leather jacket.
Horse racing...well, have you ever seen a horse do something it really didn't want to?
didn't think so.
those horses are treated better then most animals, and some people.
Morality is a myth. morality is what YOU make of it, but don't expect me to agree.

I agree that animal racing and animal fighting are cruel activities. But if you don't like baseball, football, et al., DON'T WATCH THEM. I'm sure there are vegan options to sporting gloves, but you're not going to convince people to adopt cruelty-free options if you keep screaming about how immoral everything is.

Horse racing is very cruel. -> I agree on that.
Also, I haven't thought about the previous sports in this way till now...
I guess this might have been said already - and even if it will be said again, how many would listen? Consider smoking: everywhere we are told how unhealthy it is, and yet most people continue doing it or start doing it.
Human kind can be very bad and aggressive at times.
I do hope something could be done.
Good luck.

All you nimrods saying footballs are completely synthetic now need to take five seconds to go to Wilson.com so that you will see NFL and NCAA footballs are indeed still made with top quality leather.
Only the cheap junk you buy at your local sporting goods store is synthetic.
In any case, sports are not immoral.

Footballs etc. are made of syntetics materials and have been for years.
and as for the horse racing. they love it. if they didn't want to do it they wouldn't they are extremely stubborn animals. trust me, i should know...
There is no way that sports are immoral
"sports" such as fox hunting, bull fighting and dog fighting are cruel... if you can call that a sport
if your not the one participating, then it doesn't really concern you

Right, everything is somehow related to harming the vegetarian cause. Why, by breathing right now, we're affecting the atmosphere and our carbon dioxide might be killing animals nationwide. We should be smothered right away.
