well, my reason is because i have really bad stomach problems while digesting red meat, and it happens with chicken too. My digestion has been better since i eat stuff made out of tofu or soy that tastes like meat. I like the flavor of meat but it's just that my stomach cannot handle it.

I don't really eat a lot of fake meat, but when I do, it is usually because I'm trying to make a "normal" recipe vegetarian. For example, if I was making a chili that called for a pound of ground beef, I would just use fake meat instead.
I used a lot of fake meat when I first became a vegetarian (just because I was used to the taste), but after a while I didn't even like the look, smell, or taste of meat. Actually, I know 2 other vegetarians, and they don't use a lot of fake meat either. I still have a veggie burger every once in a while, but only because they don't really taste like meat.

I'm not trying to offend you or anything, but it does seem like you are a bit spoiled. For a lot of people it's really hard to make ends meet, and where most people can't afford 1 iPod and 1 laptop two of each is a bit excessive. I think it's really cool that you help your family out so much, and I commend you for that. I can see where you're offended by everyone calling you spoiled, because there are a lot of teens out there that do absolutely nothing and have absolutely everything. And yes you have worked for what you have in your own way. But on the other side you have to realize that a lot of people, like me, work almost every day and don't even have half of what you do. I have an iPod, which I bought with my own money, and a laptop which was a graduation present from my parents because I was going off to school, and that is it. But maybe your family is just a little more well off than mine. Like you said, I don't know your situation

I like to eat the fake meat because it does spice up the meals instead of only eating fruits and veggies all the time. Also, there is a company, Loma Linda, which sends out catalogs so that you can order fake meat. Some of the products are better than the normal things you find in the grocery store, and the variety is unbelievable!!! From fake hotdogs to fake fish, steaks, chicken, meatballs, anything you could just about imagine. I'm not sure if the have a website, but you can contact your local Seventh-Day Adventist church and they will know a number to call to get the catalog sent to you!!

I don't think you are rude. No need to apologize. I try to be a vegetarian but after a while I do get a craving for meat. So when I eat vegetarian meals I often eat things that are vegetarian but taste like meat. Like ground soy meat or tofu burgers. I don't like vegetarian hot dogs, but then I don't like the meat variety either.

Yes your reasons are some of my reasons! although i honostly dont even like the taste of meat anymore. I'd rather eat some fruit. But veggie meat really does come in handy sometimes! like when your having a bon fire on the beach and everyone is roasting hotdogs. Then i can just pull out my vegan ones! YUMMY! and some of the fake meat tastes better then the real meat.

I've been a vegetarian for 8 years now. I never eat stuff that tastes like real meat. I've never been a big meat eater anyway.
I do care about animals, my health, and I've also had an eating disorder (I wished to lose weight and lost perhaps too much - my period stopped, but managed to get it back). All these reasons made me who I am now.
Recently, I became vegan - came out naturally, perhaps I'll go back to vegetarian, not planning truly to never drink milk or eat yogurt again...

I've been veg*n for a looooong time now and I have really never had cravings for meat (well, once like 20 years ago I wanted a roast beef sandwich, but that was it) I don't use meat analogs terribly often but when I do it's because I like variety as much as the next person and, like you said, it's just another good thing to eat. Plus, I live with an omnivore and, although he'll happily eat whatever I cook, I think he sometimes likes to have his "meaty" favorites.

I eat it for an alternative source of protein and I'm not a full practicing vegie anymore, just don't care for steak and pork that often any more.
I don't think most of these alternatives like the chicken McNOtnuggets taste much like meat. Most of them are frozen, so it's hard to get an real "meat" flavor like a fresh steak on the grill. But give me anything out of a box from Fantastic foods any day. Love their Couscous, tobouli and chili mixes!

I am a vegetarian because I refuse to support the murder of animals, particularly because of the inhumane way they are treated and the horrible, painful methods used to kill them. I eat "fake meat" because I do like the taste of meat. Also, these meat substitutes are a good source of protein- a compound which is often lacking in vegetarian diets.
