My gfs mom wants me to pratcie resuce breathing on my gf as she watches me doing it. My gf has major asthma attacks and her mom wants to make sure i know what to do if she stops breathing. I have watched as her sister praticed on her like her mom told her too, she did it for about five minutes then she had to stop as my gf needed to use her nebulizer as her asthma was starting to act up.
Is it ok to do it on her???? can i do it for five minutes like her mom wants me too??? is her mom odd asking me to do this as she watches???

Rescue breathing is designed to force air into the lungs of someone who is not able to breathe. It doesn't seem like a good idea to do this to someone who can breathe - it would not surprise me if practicing on your girlfriend actually irritates her asthma.

The smart thing for you to do is take a course in adult CPR. They take about a day and are usually fairly inexpensive (<$100). You get to practice on dummies which can't be hurt and when you walk away you know you're certified, not just showed the basics. Ask your girlfriend's mom if she'll split the cost with you.

you only do CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation with someone who stops breathing or stop the heart beating not with someone who is conscious. you should attend basic life support course or go to youtube website and type cpr and you can watch the video on how to give cpr.
just make sure that your gf always carries her ventolin inhaler as this opens the airways thus helps her to breathe. if not relieve, just bring her right away in Aand E

You would be better off taking a CPR course, which will also cover rescue breathing. Mom's heart is in the right place, but her method is off.
