I enjoy eating some vegetables but I HATE when they're cooked. It doesn't taste the same and I don't like the mushy feeling in my mouth. I don't even really like them steamed. Of course I cook my corn and potatoes, but everything else must be raw. If not, I cannot eat them. A teacher actually told me that this can sometimes be bad and i've never heard of such a thing... Is this true? I don't think so.

It's two sided.

Depending on the vegetable, it can be far more work on your digestive system to process the raw veggies. This is in part due to natural human adaptation, and there is little you can do about that. I believe that there are some veggies which either release too much or not enough of something if eaten raw...I would consult a nutritionist on that point.

On the positive side, most vegetables that we're apt to eat raw are perfectly fine that way. Actually, many cooking methods actually drain out some of the nutrients.

For the most part, so long as what you're eating raw is something your body can actually break down as such, you should be okay.

Don't listen to everything your teacher says, look for your self, the medical community is always changing their minds on what to eat. eating only raw vegis might give you gas and irritate the stomach lining if that is the only thing you eat and may cause long term problems such as ulcers, but I don't know if there has been an actual study done to prove this. There are people out there that only eat raw food including meat (don't eat pork raw). I personally wouldn't do this, but they claim to have a healthy lifestyle with more energy and a clear mind. Although they might marinate things for long periods of time, to soften them. Do what makes you feel best, and alter your diet when nessasary. FYI, corn and potatos do not fall into the vegi category, they are startches. Most white and yellow vegis aren't true vegis, they are starches. This is important to know.

It depends if you are vggitarian and all you eat is veggies that can be bad because you need other things to keep your body powered and healthy but if you are just talking about with other meals or as asnack no they are not unhealthy at all. Some acids come out when you cook veggies but nothing that would ever harm your body just natural acids. She must have just ment that you should learn to eat them cooked because then you have more verriety other wise maybe she just doesn't know what she's talkingabout. I hope I helped.

your teacher needs to do some research. the vast majority of veggies can be eaten raw and SHOULD be eaten raw to get the highest nutritional content.

there is even an entire way of eating that is raw. mostly raw vegans, but i myself am a raw vegetarian.

try to eat organic when you can, and wash everything. but enjoy your raw veggies and all the good stuff that comes with eating them!

Eating most vegetables raw should be fine..I know I MUCH prefer carrots raw.

just keep in mind

To have a healthy diet you must eat a WIDE variety of grains, nuts, legumes, fruits and vegetables. Some of these can NOT be eaten raw, but you still must eat them.

Make sure you have a proper balanced diet!!

i've always heard raw is better, has more of the nutrients and eating them raw is the best way to get the most enzymes from foods because cooking destroys enzymes and u need enzymes for digestion - i don't know what you're teacher's talkin about?

i love raw veggies... you just have to be sure they are washed and cleaned properly to prevent E-COLI........If you have no stomach problems such as diverticulitis go for it..... good for you all the way around........+ when you steam, boil veggies alot of nutrients are lost.......
