ns, are they being hyprocrites? The "Live and let live" philosophy should apply to plants and trees too right?

Then technically vegetarians should stop eating and using anything made of wood.. even furniture.. Or they should just let the non-veggies be..

What do you guys think??

Plants are conscious living entities, like animals and humans. But since their concsiousness is almost completely covered by their plant bodies, the amount of suffering inflicted on a plant when it's harvested and eaten is miniscule in comparison to the suffering that animals feel when they are slaughtered.

Everyone must exploit the environment to survive; that's a given. To not cause any living entity to die would be impossible. For me, vegetarianism (among other things) is a way to greatly reduce the impact I make.

in basic terms by using fact some thing is residing would not propose that it feels soreness. Fruit is an evolutionary characteristic it somewhat is meant to be eaten from the plant, so as that the clientele can unfold its seeds and create new flowers. Given the item which you stated, i think of you may desire to lookup the definition of "paranormal". there is not any scientific examine to show that flowers are unsleeping and/or able to feeling soreness. each neurologist could evaluate that to be thoroughly ridiculous.

Plants feel pain now? Kind of grasping at straws aren't we? Did you fall asleep during in the third grade when they did the unit on nervous systems?

It is said that plants might have something, such as a stress-avoidance response, but this in no way means that they feel "pain". It is illogical to equate this to the type of pain that is suffered by humans and animals. Nerve endings, hormones, a brain and other structures is what allows humans and animals to experience pain, plants have none of these. They are also rooted to one spot and cannot flee, thus there would be no point in them feeling pain. Pain is an evolutionary trait that tells something to flee in order to avoid injury or death.

It takes 10 times as many plants to feed an animal used for meat. Therefore people who argue plants feel pain should be for a vegetarian diet. As they are not just eating plants directly, but also killing(indirectly) the plants the animals ate. So, not only are they killing all those plants, but also causing suffering to the animals they eat.

The plants feel pain argument is just another false argument made by people who eat meat in order to justify what they do. This always amazes me, they say that they do not feel bad about eating animals yet they are always trying to justify why they eat the way they do.

I couldn't get into the second link you provided, but the first was a joke, just because some website states plants feel pain according to some study does not mean anything.

While I agree that vegs shouldn't really harass non-vegs because this is a choice and we all have free will, one creep is not the representative of the whole. If some particular veg is harassing you and being a jerk, I suggest you just take this up with that person. Bringing this crap up here is really passive-aggressive and will not help your individual situtation or frictioned relationship with that person.

If you have something against veg people as a whole, then I suggest you seek counciling to find out why you are so angry and why you are misdirecting it towards a group of people who merely eat different food than you do.

And somebody tries this pathetic argument once or twice a day. It's old. It's used. It's tired. Put it to bed already.

okay.. whatever scientific proof you are talkig about, you are misinterpreting

Yes, it has been shown that plants react to the envoronment based on chemical signals..even to the point of "warning" other plants that something is wrong.. THis is NOT pain.. it is a chemical response.

And without a central nervous system or brain it is impossible for plants to think or interpret pain. IMPOSSIBLE..

So leave the vegetraians alone. THEN you can expect them to leave YOU alone.

BTW.. It takes more than a pound of grain to produce a pound of beef.. So who's killing more plants, Meat Eaters or vegetarians?

Have a nice day. DOn't troll Y!A.

Do you have any links to articles that aren't obvious fakes?

You know, like one from a reputable source, like... a scientific journal moderated by the scientific community.

Until then, you're full of s***.

Plants react to pain, but they can not "feel" it. There is nothing there to process the pain. It is a chemical reaction to stress.

One more fun fact. Eating meat causes more veggies to be used... what the hell do you think the cows eat. A 1,400 pound cow eats a lot a veggies before you eat it.

If vegetarians admitted that plants indeed are aware and can feel some type of pain, than what would they eat?
It is all just a convenient belief system for them. A way to make themselves feel superior and instill guilt on others. I E a power trip..

Can you eat your pet dog? can you kill a cow which gives you milk? can you kill a horse who tops the race? No? because they are alive like you are. That way NIthari duo was eating only humans.so what was wrong there.?
But you can pluck fruits and eat. you can pluck vegetables and eat. The trees and plant will still live on and bear more fruit and veggies.

You know, this plants question has been asked before. I think you do it just to irritate us. You don't care about the plants at all, do you?

Your question is only partly correct. Only when you extract the vegetable or fruit direct from the plant, the plant may feel pain. But, when these fall naturally from the plant and you collect them from the ground, this question does not arise.
