I'm a 25 female. I have been waking up every morning with a very sore throat and very swollen lymph nodes in the throat but within an hour of waking up the pain and swelling are both gone. I have no other symptoms other than that. This condition can last for months :(, I also feel mucous standing in my throat and casnt get rid of it.Sometimes I also wake up with a bitter taste in my mouth, dunno if all these symptoms are related. I dont suffer from any other diseases, only Anemia though (although I believe I improved a lot). What do you think the reason is? and is there a way to treat it naturally??? I hate medicine :((

Bad reaction and postnasal drip? Try nasal cleaning. Also, make sure the room is humid, you open the window for at least 10 minutes every day, you keep it relatively dust free, you change the bed linens every week, etc.

You might try sleeping with a surgical mask, and see if that helps. It keeps the air humid and filters the air to some extent.

Good luck!

Sore Throat Only

It's typical of a dry throat. When you are asleep, you swallow less and so, do not generate the amount of saliva you do when you are awake. You might be sleeping with your mouth open, therefore, making your mouth and throat dry, and causing irritation. Have a glass of water by your bed, when you get up in the morning, first, take a sip of water and see if that alleviates the soreness. If you wake up during the night, take a sip of water. Try to sleep on your side instead of your back so that your mouth has less chance to fall open. Purchase a good humidifier. If none of these things work, I would talk to your physician.

It could be allergies, but more likely it's strep or tonsilitius. You really need some antibiotics. Do you have a quick clinic anywhere around? Or do you know a local hospital where you could check and see if there is a huge line at the er? (i know that's annoying to have to sit there, but it will help). A doctor can give you not only antibiotics but pain meds, too. Something you can do to soothe your throat for now: tea with honey. You may not like hot tea, but trust me, it helps. Talk as little as possible and gargle with warm salt water (again, gross, but it helps). Also, sometimes sucking on lemons will help. Hope you feel better!

You need to go to a Doc and get it checked, it might be strept throat, they'll have to do a "culture" (applicator is rubbed on inside of throat quickly, then a 4 way swath is done on a petri-dish, put in an incubator for 24 hrs, then checked under a micro-scope, if it is "Streptococci" it will be round in shape).

Seems like everyone already mentioned what I was gonna say. But while your sleeping, do you breath more through your nose or your mouth? The only other thing I can think of is Post Nasal Drip.

At your 25 years you should well know to not take advice from people who hides behind a keyboard, instead, to go to the doctor, get an appointment and listen to him/her who studied and devoted his/her life to that profession just so you could have someone to count on this situations.

It could be that you are snoring and probably very loudly for your throat to hurt as much as it does. I think the bitter taste is probably due to the iron tablets you are taking for your anemia
