No, it will not affect your career. About 75 - 80% of the WORLD has cold sores (most of which are caused by herpes simplex virus 1).

I have personally had genital herpes caused by herpes simplex virus 1 for over 6 years. I work for a pharmacy in a government hospital and I have never had any problems.

Honestly, it's no one business if you have herpes or not. Unless you are having sex with someone (genital herpes) or kissing someone (cold sores), it is absolutly NO ONES business. My co-workers would be completely shocked if they found out I have herpes, but I wouldn't lose my job over it!

Good luck!

You mean you have warts genitally or blisters? If you are having symptoms of genital hepres, but only test positive for type 1 (warts are not caused by herpes), it is perfectly possible you have type 1 genitally. Far from being rare, this is becoming incredibly common. Among young people, it accounts for well over half new genital hepres cases.

If you test positive for hsv-1 on a blood test, they would generally tell you you have an oral herpes infection, as this is what it would usually indicate. That does not mean that you have it orally, just that it is more likely in general that hsv-1 would be oral as it causes nearly all oral herpes. It is perfectly possible your infection hsv-1 is genital if your symptoms are genital. If you actually have warts then you have another infection completely.

Most of the population have type 1 - 80% - and 1 in four have genital herpes, so it would not affect your career at all.

I got identified with herpes (type 2) about four years back, when I was still in college and had a stupid one-night stand. I understand lots of people say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and all of a sudden I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for my entire life. The worst part was feeling I could never date other men again. After all, who wants to go out with a girl who has sores round her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/oDDBw everything changed.

Not only was I able to eliminate all traces of the herpes simplex virus from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This method provided the opportunity to be happy and experience true love again. Now I want to help others by sharing this story.

Herpes infection should not preclude you from a career in nursing.

You didn't mention where you had the HSV-1... having it on the genitals is not common but having it in the mouth is! According to one study, 50% of the population has evidence of prior infection with HSV-1 by the age of 30. So you're hardly alone here - probably a lot of folks in the medical profession have had HSV-1!

A frank talk with your doctor is indicated, however. I expect it'll allay your concerns considerably.

If someone has a cold sore and puts their finger in their mouth then a herpes infection whitlow may appear. Herpes whitlows are frequently found among dentists and dental hygienists. Still they work in their profession. Consult the Nursing council in your area. You may take Acyclovir 200-400mg twice a day as Herpes prophylaxis.

Herpes is sooooo common! It won't affect your career as no one has to know! Use Zovirax if you have a flare up and stop worrying .... as a doc said to me ... you should worry more about not getting run over on the road rather than the onset of a herpes flare! If you worry you'll end up having an attack of herpes.
