It's a stout, full flavor. It's kind of like blue, but even better.
My personal purple recipe:
1/2 cup Red
2/3 cup Blue
Pinch of Pink
Preheat oven to 400 degrees (F).
Pour all Blue into a medium size bowl.
Add the pinch of Pink and mix well.
Slowly add the Red a few tsp. at a time and mix well after each addition.
Bake at 400 degrees (F) for 20 minutes.
Let cool for 10 minutes, then throw on your neighbor's cat.

Just tried purple cabbage for dinner. It had a slightly sour taste. I ike regular green cabbage better but I have to admit the purple soup I made it into looked cool.

It's funny that you ask this question. Whenever I am eating/drinking anything "grape flavored" it doesn't resemble any grape I've ever eaten. So, I say "It's not grape; it's purple."
The food/drink that I think taste the most purple are "grape" Now-and-Laters and "grape" Kool-Aid.

The Hindi word for eggplant (aubergine) is bangan.
The Hindi word for purple is bangani.
So, I would say purple tastes like eggplant.

I guess since orange taste like an orange, I will go with grapes. Is this a rhetorical question?
