This is for a health paper on STDS. I was assigned syphilis, and I haven't been able to track down this answer-- which sex finds out about being infected first? Male or female?

Information would be very helpful!

If I recall correctly (and there's a chance I might not!), the sores from syphilis crop up at about the same time for men and women. The trouble is that the sores in men show up on the outside where he can't help but notice it. The sores for women can show up on the internal vaginal membranes and since they're generally painless, they may never know about them.

I imagine for any std/sti (whatever they're called these days) a male would notice first because the sexual organs are outside the body.

it really could be either if they are infected at the same time is your question but i believe the female does but thats my opinion because a female is a carrier like an incubater than like a male that doesnt keep things in i dont know how to explain it

the male usually notices a sore on the penis, females usually only get treated because the man has been identified as having it.
