I am a vegetarian, and I am completely for the rights of animals, but PETA KILLS ANIMALS! I've been going through some questions in the vegan & vegetarian section and a lot of you refer back to PETA. I think you guys need to do your research....

Seriously, I think you should look at those websites. PETA kills animals, and they are sickening. Just go to google.com and type in peta kills animals. Hundreds of sights will pop up.

Okay, calm down people, I didnt mean 'all you people'. Maybe I should've phrased it better, but every question I looked at in the Vegetarian and Vegan questions, had an answer about PETA. I'm very sorry, but you don't have to take it out on me. And fyi I have 2 dogs and 3 cats and they are all neutered/spayed. I'm sorry, but I just don't like an organization that can take animals from people and other organizations and claim that they are going to give them a 'good home' and then when they get the animal in the car kill them and throw them in a trash bag and off to the dumpster to rot. Yes, there is an overpopulation in animals, but I'm pretty sure there is overpopulation in humans too isnt there? Are we just killing off people left and right because of that? No, I dont think so. I know China and India kill baby girls, and I think thats just sick. And I believe the same thing about animals, they should all get a fair chance at life. So i'm sorry to those that I pissed off, just stating

Why are "you people" so stupid and think that you know what we like and don't like?

I am not a supporter of PeTA, they waste millions of dollars on laughable campaigns and controversial stunts.

Do you know ANYTHING about the pet overpopulation problem?

PeTA has to kill animals because morons like you don't spay and neuter their animals.

If you do spay/neuter, why don't you get a job at a shelter and see what it's like to be around the euthanasia, or "peaceful death" of cats, dogs, puppies and kittens?

Some shelters in states such as North Carolina "euthanize" their animals with sh*t like shotguns or traumatic gas chambers. Would you rather have them suffer that death than have "the big evil PeTA" give them a painless death by overdosing on anesthetics.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

People are overpopulating? You don't say? I guess it depends on where you live.

Every SPCA and Humane Society kills animals too. Do you think that we can just dump them on the street and they can be "free" and happy? Sorry, this is a world controlled by humans. It's NOT SAFE to throw MILLIONS of animals onto the streets of any country every year. Are you kidding? What is your alternative? Shall we leave them locked up in cages in a huge warehouse until they die stress or mental anguish.

If those people that care so much about their animals going to a good home, they should have been that good home, shouldn't they. If they couldn't for some reason, they should have found a home themselves. People are so selfish when it comes to animal inconveniencing them, one that had no influence over the decision to be part of a human family.

First off, not every vegetarian is a PETA supporter. I personally think their tactics are too extreme. However, did you even look at the link you provided? They are not credible sources of information. You need to look at what the person putting out the info gains. All these people have something to gain from making PETA look bad.

The website petakillsanimals.com is put out by the CCF. The CCF is a front group for big tobbacco, resturaunts, meat industry, and alcohol. The Center for Consumer Freedom is a nonprofit corporation run by lobbyist Richard Berman. Berman is known as a spin doctor. He misinforms, alters the truth and down right lies to get his message across.

This is the same man that went against the group, mothers against drunk driving(MADD) and wanted to lower the legal blood alcohol level. He goes against groups that are will impact the profits of his financial backers. The group denies the obestiy problem in the U.S. and is against Unions and a minimum wage for workers.

In Bermans own words his strategy is to shoot the messenger ... we’ve got to attack their credibility as spokespersons

Most of your links mention Bermans group directly(so they are obvious supporters).

Be careful what you read, not everything on the internet can be trusted to come from a credible source that does not have some sort of agenda behind it. It is a shame that a group like the CCF can distract gullible(often young) people from the real issues.

I dont know a single vegetarian or vegan who likes peta in the slightest. a couple of people on the board here do, but i think they are younger and havent been vegetarian or vegan that long.

way to go generalising a massive chunk of the population, that one wasnt very thought out was it??

peta are a bunch of fanatical assholes, they make us all look bad.

3 of those websites are supported by the same source. They all seem a little sensationalized. Peta is sometimes forced to euthanize animals that cannot be found homes. Thats why they raise the awareness of of getting your pets spayed and neutered to help fight off the over population crisis. I would personally like to see more evidence supporting these claims one of the web site seemed to justify the actions of michel vick in comparison to peta. Michel Vick committed a hanious crime toward animals Peta raised activism and petitions to get the NFL star kicked off. I know many sports fans are very bitter toward it at my school but thats just been my own personal experience. Some people like to justify there own meat eating by saying that people focus to much on animals and its keeping us from advancement scientifically (like testing on animals) when in fact helping animals is good for humans in the long run environmentally, health wise, ect. And lastly in case anyone is wondering testing on animals is far from accurate and is in-fact keeping science from advancing because it cant be accuately applied to humans. accurately
I dont know much about anti- peta stuff and I'm not saying that all of it is untrue but you might want to check your sources. Either way peta dose do a lot to help animal regardless of these claims. I doubt that any organization who spends vast majorities of time souly to the benefit of animals would purposely go out to harm them.

You need to do your homework about the organization that brings you this propaganda. The Center for Consumer Freedom is a corporate sponsored response to PETA and other organizations that promote healthy, ethical, and environmental alternatives to corporate practices. This organization was defending fast food restaurants in their use of trans fats, which is one of the deadliest food substances out there. Your source of information is about as biased as PETA, except they only care about themselves and protecting the products of their corporate sponsors.
Sure, PETA is hypocritical, but show me an organization or a person who is not. You can't find one.
Compare the mission of PETA to the CCF. One is for protecting the most helpless of creatures and the other is for protecting corporate profits, especially in regards to their harmful products you're not supposed to know about.

I don't like PETA, primarily because of their sexist advertising tactics. This was before the allegations about their killing domestic animals came out. There are many organizations who protect animals who are far more worthy of our support.

Peta & other shelters euthanize the overabundance of homeless animals that stupid people keep breeding. If there were enough homes so that there weren't animals being dumped, strays being tortured, ferals producing more litters, there would be no need for shelters or euthanizing.

You want someone to blame? Blame the people who aren't spaying and neutering their animals, and even worse the ones who purposely breed them.

PETA's website has some interesting and true information and lists that are helpful when having a conversation about veg*nism.

i am a longtime vegetarian that does not support PETA. i think overall they are a hypocritical and overzealous group. that doesn't mean that i can't use their website for the good stuff that is there.

Way to Stereotype! High Five!

Seriously, I don't see a whole lot of PETA supporters on this board. Most vegetarians know that PETA sucks, but most people think all vegetarians must be members of PETA, otherwise they aren't vegetarians.

You forgot the most important (and entertaining) link about PETA:
