There is not a single pharmaceutical medication on the market today that doesn't warn the user of damaging side efffects. Marijuanas medical uses for cancer patients and sufferers of chronic pain far outweigh any potential side effects that it causes. Just like cigarettes, any smoke that you inhale puts tar in your lungs, that's not a good thing. The worst side effect it has is causing loss of drive and ambition, like the tv commercial where the dog is trying to talk the girl into quiting pot because she won't go out and play with him. It makes you lazy and gives you the munchies. Used in moderation I think it's a good thing, because it's a great stress reliever. Stress is the #1 or #2 killer in the USA next to heart disease. Marijuana is the best medicine on the planet for stress. As long as it doesn't interfere with your schooling, your job, or your family life it's not nearly as bad as alcohol. In my opinion the worst side effect is JAIL, cuz it is illegal. But like the song by The Traveling Wilburys says, in Jersey anything's legal, as long as ya don't get caught.

No. A 1996 US government study claims that heavy marijuana use may impair learning ability. The key words are heavy use and may. This claim is based on studying people who use weed daily--a sample that represents less than 1 percent of all marijuana users. this study concluded: 1) Learning impairments cited were subtle, minimal, and may be temporary. In other words, there is little evidence that such learning impairments even exist. 2) Long-term memory was not affected by heavy marijuana use. 3) Casual marijuana users showed no signs of impaired learning. 4) Heavy alcohol use was cited as being more detrimental to the thought and learning process than heavy marijuana use. None of the medical tests currently used to detect brain damage in humans have found harm from marijuana, even from long term high-dose use. an early study reported brain damage in rhesus monkeys after six months exposure to high concentrations of marijuana smoke. In a recent, more carefully conducted study, researchers found no evidence of brain abnormality in monkeys that were forced to inhale the equivalent of four to five marijuana cigarettes every day for a year. the claim that marijuana kills brain cells is based on a speculative report dating back a quarter of a century that has never been supported by any scientific study.

So many people know so little about marijuana that they like to say things about it that are not true. I am a marijuana smoker for about 6 years str8 now and there is nothing wrong with me. Yes there are some bad side effects but the good side effects will far outweigh the bad ones if you are smart about using it and have a good connection to get it. Some people are so ignorant saying things that are not always true because marijuana effects different people differently and it is only for some people who have love for the plant.

Short term memory loss is a major one... When people say that marijuana can fry your brain, they aren't really kidding lol.
Not to mention, forming a drug habit such as that can cause one to move on to bigger and (not really) better things such as cocaine, crack, or other things.
You also need to be careful... with marijuana you may not be getting the "real deal". There are several different dangerous chemicals that it could be laced with that you don't know about.
I read in the news a couple of years ago people who have died from smoking tainted weed.
Personally.... to smoke marijuana on a full-time basis isn't great... Its not necessarily going to kill you but... it could become habit forming (whether people say its addictive or not, it is to a certain extent). I smoke it about once a year, and I don't like how it makes me feel lol
