N/L Spray gives quick relief to angina as compared to tablet. In cardiac failure it has be used with great caution or not at all due to sudden fall in BP.
Hope Answered your question.

Glyceryl trinitrate spray is absorbed more quickly into the bloodstream and so works much quicker than tablets. GTN spray is used underneath the tongue which has a lot of blood vessels and so can start taking effect within minutes whereas tablets can take between 20 and 30 minutes to be absorbed and take effect. With someone who has cardiac problems, rapid effect is vital. Hope this helps.

Spray is much faster acting than tablets. It is absorbed through the mucous membrane on the underside of the tongue and acts to dilate (enlarge) the coronary arteries almost instantly. Tablets would require to be broken down by stomach acid then passed on to the gut before being absorbed into the blood stream

cardiac failure and congestive heart failure are basically the same thing they are stating the hearts inability to meet the bodys metabolic need for oxygen. This is often due to poor cardiac output. the acute just indicates it has been a sudden onset rather than gradual due to underlying condition.

One of the main advantages is shelf life.

GTN tablets have to be stored properly in glass bottles with a silvered cap and they rapidly loose there potency, where as the liquid formulation used in the spray does not suffer these problems.

GTN spray also has a quicker onset of action and it is generally more convenient to use.

Nitroglycerin pills or spray have nearly identical time of onset for relief of symptoms - there is less likely hood that a patient will inhale or aspirate a foreign object if they are given nitro-spray vs. nitrotabs. It's a more convenient application in the emergency setting.

Used for angina and gives instant relief. Pills take too long to work
