It doesn't make me feel bad at all. It's the nature of the world. Plants are also alive....do you feel bad for eating them?

I'm Vegan, so I don't eat animals (or any of their by-products). I feel more at-peace this way. The one time I unknowingly ate meat (it was tiny pieces of chopped up sausage in soup) and I found out, I got physically nauseous. But I try and have a sense of humour with my lifestyle....such as when mum buys meat at the store, I'll make it move around and make little noises like, "noooo don't eat me!" I posted small PETA stickers all over the inside of the fridge... put a print-out of the "did your food have a face?" (the bloody, decapitated cow head) in the meat drawer,... drew a frowny face on a piece of paper and put it on the meat she was cutting... or I'll make little screaming noises when she cuts food hahaha....
now if only I could get her to watch the PETA videos.... she says she knows how cruel and awful the animals are treated, but doesn't want to really see...
i think the entire country needs to have their eyes held open and have them watch the Humane Society/Caring Consumers/PETA videos...just like in A Clockwork Orange.... because it seems that ignorance is unfortunate bliss... :(

I don't feel bad at all because the animal has been bred to be eaten. What would you do with all the sheep, pigs, lambs, cows, goats, chickens turkeys etc - stop them from doing what comes naturally and sterilise them all? Or wipe the species out altogether because if everybody ate veggie there would be no feed for the animals?
The answer is not to feel bad, just respect other peoples choices - there is room for us all. The one thing I always do is buy organic 'happy' meat - that is not factory-farmed where animals are kept in cruel cramped conditions - animls that have been well looked after and allowed to act naturally.

It is my decision what I put into my body and I chose not to eat animals. However, it is a personal choice and it is also not up to me whether or not people around me eat meat or not. So I just try not to watch.

Terrible! I'm a Vegan, and seeing others eat meat makes me sick to my stomach.I'm the only Vegan in the house and I haft to live with 3 other meat eaters so imagine how I feel. All the time I wonder how can people do such a thing like that but not everyone can be like us.

I feel fine. Humans are born omnivorous, not vegetarian. We are supposed to eat meat as well as vegetables and fruit. I see no difference in taking the life of a plant or an animal, as long as there's no unnecessary cruelty involved. All living creatures survive on nutrients taken from other beings. Even plants.
Besides, animal protein is essencial to the survival of Mankind and ultimately, the Planet. If we all started a vegetarian diet, the pressure to increase arable lands would reach gigantic proportions, causing a much larger destruction of the habitat of wild animals. We would also have to kill hundreds of millions of catle, poultry, etc, because farmers would lose all profit and go bankrupt.

I really don't eat alot of red meat-- never liked it. But I do eat some meats and no, it don't bother me, do I agree with hunting sure people eat, animals eat, would I do it NO, eww. As long as I can walk into a store and buy meat why not, I am not watching it die, or have it look at me while it dying. Some meats are great, you can have your own opinion, again don't hate someone for their ways. Don't watch if it bothers you.

while i feel bad that the animals died because of becoming food, the animals are eventually going to die anyway. but if i'm around someone who doesn't eat meat, and it bothers them then i think i can abstain for a short period of time. after all, how you make another person feel is more important than how satisfied you are from doing something objectional to them.

Not bad at all. It's this overprotection of our kids and shielding them from all the realities of life that is raising a generation of wimps who can't take care of themselves. Animals raised for food and then slaughtered is a fact of life. Processing a chicken or a beef cow is no different than picking a peach or cutting a head of lettuce; it's all part of the food chain. Denying yourself or hiding the realities of it from your kids is the equivalant of sticking your head in the sand or closing your eyes, plugging your ears and saying "lalalalalalalalalalala". As soon as you come to grips with the facts of life, the sooner you'll be comfortable with it.
