This is just a poll.. no need for evil comments or bickering.
If you are a vegetarian who used to eat meat, what was your favorite meat? Which meat/dish was the hardest for you to give up?
If you're a meat eater you can answer with what meat/dish would be the hardest to give up if you were to go veggie..
But state whether you are actually a vegetarian or not.
I'll start off by saying Fish was my favorite meat. Especially a tuna sandwich made with LOTS of Miracle Whip (The way mom used to make them for me). Sometimes I still miss it.. But when I really miss it, I get veggie hot dogs, mash them up, mix lots of miracle whip in it, and make a sandwich out of that. YUM!!

Yeah.. I'd say fish was my FAVORITE
but I also loved hotdogs and hamburgers and chicken. They were all kinda hard to give up.
But now I like veggie dogs as well as I ever liked beef hot dogs. At first though, I had to smother them in katsup, relish, and mustard.. still love my condiments, but now I like the taste of the veggie meat itself.
I too love MSF products. Had some veggie sausasge yesterday.

I am a vegetarian and I think the hardest meat for me to give up was fish and seafood. I too miss tuna salad sandwiches! :-)
I also miss salmon, shrimp, rainbow trout and walleye.
One of the other hard things to give up was actually a "once in a while meat" for me - lamb. I loved - may I repeat - LOVED gyros! The cucumber sauce, onions, tomatoes and meat on the warm pita. Scrumptious!

Before becoming vegetarian, my favorites were sea creatures & birds, especially KFC. Sea creatures were actually the last meat that I stopped eating. Although I used to eat meat nearly every day b/c I was indoctrinated to believe that I *had* to for my health, I never particularly craved beef & the idea of pork often put me off, except I liked bacon (go figure).
It's been a long time since I've craved any type of meat, & we seldom use meat analogs anymore. A nearby vegan Chinese restaurant has several wonderful mock-seafood dishes & I try to go there @ least every couple of weeks. I wouldn't say it was a craving for *meat* but for the savor & seasonings that are used in these dishes, as the idea of consuming a creature of any species now horrifies me.

I had no problem giving up meat at all.
One day I read all about how humans digest meat and decided that it is no good for athletic performance due to the fact our digestion system is not designed for it. I stopped that very same day. My family continued to eat it of course. I had no cravings etc. I just moved onto other foods. I guess if you cannot find other tasty foods or perhaps are not a good cook, it might be difficult.
The very last unhealthy thing that I gave up eating was doughnuts. They were likely vegan, but fried dough dipped in sugar... my parents would buy those really cheap ones that come in a huge box -- I'd warm them up in the microwave (I gave that up too -- no microwave for me thanks) and then one day, I just had one in my hand, and said to myself, OK, no more and put it back and that was it. No cravings either. I found other better tasting things to eat.
My favourite meat dish was lasagna. Sure, the N. American style with lots of ground beef in there. No problem, I just took out the beef and... that's it. Easy. The real Italian lasagna has no meat in there anyway. But sometimes I put that Yves veggie ground round in there (it's vegan ground beef).

I'm a vegetarian and I do not consume any animals' milk or eggs, but I still have leather shoes I bought before I decided to go veggie.
My favourite meat was shellfish. I didn't find it difficult to give it all up. It's easy because once the penny has dropped that meat comes from a slaughtered/killed animal, it was just the easiest decision in my life and I don't miss any meat. Nothing is yummy for me when it's based on death and cruelty.

For me it would be curry rice with chicken drumsticks that I probably miss the most but the strange thing is, the meat thing that I would probably eat if I had to is a hot dog. My son eats them and the smell of them, with all the goodies on them, coupled with the savory smell of the meat, makes my mouth water while at the same time it makes me sick.
Still just now, thinking of the prospect of eatting a hot dog makes me feel ill at ease. Like canabalism, I sure hope I'm never in a situation where it becomes an issue.

I am currently a meat eater. But had been vegetarian for 3 years once upon a time!
Personally I think all meat was hard to give up ;p But i REALLY missed a grilled steak or lobsters/shrimp/crab legs.
I do not eat a lot of meat now - I try to eat lots of raw fruits & veggies.
As a vegetarian it wasn't too hard to find substitution for some things. It was super easy to make scrumptious tacos from Morning Star Farms grillers. Grillers were also great fried up & used in pasta sauce. Morning Star Farms also makes killer vegetarian buffalo wings (spicy faux-chicken nuggets), chick patties, and corn dogs. I love all their stuff - even their veggie breakfast sausage was delicious! I still buy some of their products - because they are so yummy!!

right now I eat a little bit of each food group including meat. However, I've been contemplating vegetarianism for some time. I'm researching, and looking into how "doable" it will be.

I'm still vegan and have been varying degrees of vegetarian for years. To be honest, I don't miss anything. There are cruelty-free substitutes for everything I used to like that came from an animal. I don't crave cheese or anything now, but if I had to pick something I couldn't replace perfectly, I guess I'd say the cheap-o nacho cheese from a can.

I used to love a good steak, but close seconds would be a tie of shrimp and liverwurst. I have not missed them much, really though, since I have substituted them with new favorites. I stopped eating meat and most other animal products (I occasionally eat cheese and eggs but am working on phasing them out too) in May this year.

I am a vegetarian. When I was considering the change, it was hard for me to think about giving up bbq pork sandwiches and really good pan fried cheeseburgers. At this point, though I see these things and don't want them. The inclination for meat passed and I feel a lot healthier for it.

I'm sort of a flexitarian. I mostly eat veggie, except I make exceptions occassionally for sushi and scrapple or bacon - but ONLY from the Amish people at the farmers market since I'm mostly veggie for environmental, animal rights and health reasons (ie. hormones and antibiotics and the crap they load animals up with, the environmental effects of factory farming etc.). Since the Amish people raise their animals in a way that is acceptable to me, I will eat their meat on occasion.
Therefore, the most difficult for me to give up is scrapple and bacon. But honestly, the free-range is SO MUCH BETTER anyway!
