Okay..I eat quite alot of unhealthy food - like food high in sugar, fat and salt (pizza, fried chicken, etc), and I get little or no exercise, plus I drink Coca-Cola like everyday. I am not overweight because the medicine I take for ADHD (concerta) reduces my appetite. Oh, and I'm 17.
Am I putting myself at risk of heart disease?

I would say yes. You could be eating foods with high cholestorol. Cholesterol is bad. You could also risk yourself for diabetes. Try eating fruits, veggies, diet colas, and exercise more.
Fried foods are good but in the end there bad for you.

If you have a family history of heart disease, then you are at a higher risk than the average person. It's okay to eat unhealthy food once in awhile, but as my tae kwon do coach tells me, what you put in your body is what you are going to get out of it. You are young and your body can handle it right now, but just be careful that when your metabolism slows, you are at risk for high cholesterol, diabetes, and heart problems...Just try to be a bit more active...Go run or play a sport that you like 2-3 days a week for an hour or so.

Dear Benji. The answer is logically yes. We all know from the news reports what our life styles should be like in order to minimize our cardiovascular risks over time. However, that said, the most important issue is genetics. You haven't said a word about your family. If you are a direct disendant of a select of eastern italian people then your safe. These folk pork away all the bad stuff known to man and live into 90s. On the other hand, if your grand parents both died in their 50s from cardiovascular issues and primary relative died as well, then you are in big trouble. What I have just said is a general statement; however, genetics can be very tricky as well. The health problems that one generation has have that are devastating can skip generations as well. Females have different familial risks than males for different diseases.
Have a safe journey!

Yes such diet and lack of physical activity predisposes you to heart disease. Most cases of heart attacks (Myocardial Infarction) are asymptomatic, meaning people dont realize that they already have a heart disease until they experience a heart attack which is also the same reason why the first MI is fatal.
Dont mean to scare you,Just do something. A little more activity and less fat will do a lot

Yes, you are. And not only heart disease but also diabetes. You have to talk to your doctor about this so that he can give you health advice. You could also read health magazines or surf the net for helpful information. You are very young and you still have time to change your unhealthy diet. Because you asked this question, I know that you are also concerned about your wellbeing. Start to be health conscious with the food you eat. I hope you can do this soon. Good luck!

Some parts are genetic, but you are not doing yourself any favours. Someone said that they know of healthy people who have had heart attackes - that is the genetic side, off all the other early deaths through heart issues (which is the vast majority) it is contributed to either obesity (due to bad diet) colestrol due to incorrect foods, smoking - for all the reasons people know - etc, etc. If you had do not have a genetic issue, and the guy beside you doesn't have either yet he exercises, eats well etc - the odds are he will outlive you by 20 years.

Diabetes is usually treated through a combination of diet (low sugar), exercise and medications/insulin. Read here https://tr.im/5yEBx
Milder cases can be controlled with just diet an/or exercise while more severe cases require meds or insulin as well.
