"Vegetarianism"--I feel better being vegetarian. I don't know if it's strictly psychological or what, but I get a sense that I'm doing something right. I feel I've expanded my diet and have a more creative palate. I enjoy eating far more than I used to. I think I have lost some weight, as my clothes are looser. I also have an automatic social outlet and a sense of belonging.

The negatives of being veg*an (that's shorthand for "vegetarian or vegan") is that the world is not always friendly to us. We do have to adapt to get by. There are places where it's very easy to be vegetarian--usually in a large city--and places where it's not so easy. It means making sure you have food with you, and knowing what places have foods you can eat.

Vegetarianism. :)

Good side effects? I feel lighter, less weighted down. Meat gives me a weighted down feeling. Also I'm not as stressed out most of the time and I have a lot less headaches. But that's about it. You don't feel that different on a vegetarian diet.

There aren't really any bad side effects. The worst part about going vegetarian in my opinion is the lack of options. When I go out to restaurants, I usually have one or two things to pick from and that's it. I don't really miss meat, but I miss being able to eat according to my mood when I go out.

Don't expect to lose weight. You won't gain it, and you might lose a few pounds at first, but most people don't.

And get used to grilled cheese sandwhiches. You'll be eating a lot of them.

I'm a vegetarian since birth and it hasn't been bad. I've been eating everything but meat. the good affects is that you are healthier but the side affects are that sometimes you have to request something special when you are eating out with your friends or with your family or someplace where they don't have an alternate dish.

Good:
- If you do it right (eating healthy and getting enough nutrients), it can be healthier than a meat-containing diet
- If it's the animals you feel bad about, then not eating meat can make you feel better about yourself
- It helps the risk of obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, a specific type of diabetes, and certain cancers.
- helps you maintain a healthy weight

Bad:
- At first, it can be difficult to stop eating meat
- If you don't do it right (ex. eating junk food in the place of meat, or not getting enough nutrients), you can be unhealthy.
- You have to think more about getting protein, iron, zinc, and vitamin B12, calcium, and vitamins A and D (which you should do even with a meat-eating diet)

Vegetarianism is a type of mental disorder most commonly found in American culture. There is disagreement about whether it is an actual eating disorder or whether it is just another variation of neurosis.

Vegetarians usually justify their behavior with the plausible veneer of concern for animal rights, health issues, land use, etc. Inevitably this is a surface rationalization, one which the vegetarian actually believes themself.

The root of the pathology lies in the person's psychic structure, particularly issues with their sense of self. Narcissistic, controlling, and self-righteous features are often seen.

Prognosis is poor and to date, no effective treatments have been found.

Vegan bad: no Marshmallows, Jello, eggs, milk, cheese,
