Used to be raw almonds until the California Almond Board decided it was healthier for humans to eat only pasteurized almonds. Now, I have yet to find a new raw nut that pleases me the same!

Oh gosh, well, i really do love nuts!
I'd have to say my number one favorite is pecans. Cashews are a very close second. Along with walnuts - OMG i love walnuts, especially in other foods. Then it'd be pistachios, especially the kind I make at home where I soak raw pistachios then toss them with spicy seasonings and dehydrate them till crunchy. Next up would be pine nuts. They're so creamy and full of oil. I make a mean red pepper pine nut "cheese" with nutritional yeast that tastes a lot like nacho cheese, but without the cholesterol and nasty animal protein. It's my favorite way to get B-12 (from the yeast). Oh, I can't believe I almost forgot Brazil nuts. Those are incredibly good - so rich! And you have to love macadamia nuts. You can make non-dairy whipped cream from those, you know. I like hazelnuts, but I don't find them raw very often and, after dabbling with the raw foods lifestyle I try to only eat raw nuts (preferrably raw and soaked till germinated then dehydrated to raw again - it boosts the vitamin content and makes them easier to digest!). Almonds are honestly about last on my list, but i do love them, too. I love almond butter especially! I use almonds in a lot of recipes, too. Try grinding up almonds and figs to make a pie crust the next time you make a pie - it's really good!

And then there's seeds...
Mmmm, pumpkin seeds! I have been making a pumpkin seed brittle by mixing pumpkin seeds with brown rice syrup and then dehydrating them until they are crunchy. Good stuff!
Hemp seed is kind of growing on me. I use sesame seeds in Asian salads and when I make no-bake cookies (calcium!). I want to try black sesame seeds, but I haven't been able to find them. Sunflower seeds are a salad staple! Tons of protein there.

If they weren't so calorie dense I could definitely snack on nuts all day. Instead I treat myself to a handful or so every single day.

I knew a chick once who went on a crash diet and her hair started falling out. They made her eat a handful of almonds every day.

I try to avoid peanuts since I learned they almost always have aflatoxin (not that other nuts don't, but peanuts seem to have it most often, apparently). Aflatoxin is supposed to be the most carcinogenic substance known to man so it scares me!

All right, I think I have exhausted myself of nut and seed comments!

Raw pecans. I love me some raw, unsalted almond butter, too, though I don't care for raw almonds by themselves.

Sunshine: you can still get raw almonds, you just have to buy them directly from the grower instead of from a middle-man. :) There are plenty of companies (growers) selling them, google and you'll get a whole list.

Cashews are my favorite. I found a place a while ago that sold chocolate covered cashews, it was great.
