Hello,
I am fifteen years old and this Wednesday I have to see a pediatric cardiologist because I have recently had some abnormal EKG's. I am kind of nervous about seeing this new doctor, because I really don't know what to expect. Will they have to do lab work? Any more EKG's? Can someone please fill me in about what to expect on my initial visit with him? And info or insight is appreciated!
Thank you!

Dear Missbug,

First of all there is no need to be nervous about seeing a Cardiologist, he or she is a Specialist Doctor of the Heart not a rapist, so don't be affraid.
When you see this Cardiologist, he or she will first of all ask you some question's relating both directly and in-directly to your heart and that of your feeling's and experiences of how your heart performs for example after running, walking and at rest etc.
Your Cardiologist will listen to the rythem of your heart and may take an ' ECG ' reading to electrically check how your heart is performing with regards to it's electrical rythem of functioning.
No lab work will be done.
However, depending on how your heart is rythmatically working will depend upon what cause of treatment will be given if any.
At the end of the day, there is nothing for you to worry or concern yourself about and you should treat your Cardiologist in the same way as if you were seeing your own General Medical Practitioner.

Do not be nervous. Pediatric Cardiologist’s are the best of the best! Yes you will have tests repeated -so what if you have them before, then your ahead of the those who have not and are very nervous.

There is nothing to worry at all, you are our own Kidd. If there is a genuine problem e.g. misconduct etc. Speak to your parents and change your cardiologist is the only solution. Don't be mentally upset all is going to be alright. OK.
