Ghee is a FAT. It is also an animal product(by product since is is clarified butter)
According to The Ayurvedic cooking style it helps a person absorption of nutrients & pacifies all 3 Doshas.
On the skin problem, it might mean you are eatting too much fat & the ghee just pushes you over.

Olive Oil is a fat... I personally use Olive Oil. I do not use the Ayuredic style of cooking I am a plain old Vegan.

Use any kind of vegetable oil. Olive oil is the best tasting and healthiest; but it can also be expensive. You can save money by buying the largest containers because you get more for your money that way.

If you eat yogurt you will get the same nutritional value of ghee and better. All that butter fat isn't really good for you anyway.

For some people, a high fat diet will increase pimples. But there might be other causes. If lowering your fat intake doesn't help go to a doctor.

Butter? Cheese?

Some ghee does have a gamey flavor and it's because the cow was not fed a proper (healthy) diet of both forage and grain. Even the slightest traces of moisture can cause rancidity and the nasty smell you're talking about, which is butyric acid.

I'm a little confused. Isn't ghee just clarified butter? What nutrients are you possibly getting from it?

Look in Roget's College Thesaurus. There are many substitutes for ghee. Is ghee pronounced like, 'gay.'

ghee is used mostly in indian food - it gives curris its unique taste but you can just use oil or no oil really there is nothing about clarrified butter that has any nutitional value at all.
