Sickly looking? Gee, thanks. I don't consider myself sickly, and yes, I am a vegetarian. Actually, I have a darker skin tone than most caucasions, I'm not pale. I've always been on the darker side of light, and I'm still not pale. And I'm not skinny, either. I'm actually 30 pounds overweight and yet I'm a vegetarian. You don't have to be sickly to become a vegetarian. I know plenty of healthy, normal sized vegetarians. I've only met one sickly vegetarian in my life, and she would be tiny even if she ate meat.

I think the stereotype of vegetarians is that they are sickly-looking, but the reality is pretty different. There is not much difference in appearance between vegetarians and others. I know vegetarians who are overweight and those who are thin, just as is the case with others. I know vegetarians with bad skin, and those with good skin. A lot of it probably has to do with what kinds of vegetarian diet they keep. If they live on vegetarian junk food, they will look sickly. If they eat healthy (as is the case for those who do eat meat, but eat healthy), they will look healthy.

Vegetarians with balanced diets don't look sickly. As a matter of fact, I've never seen a sickly vegetarian.
Take a look at the women in California (vegetarianism is huge in California). Now look at women in the south (diets mostly based on meat). There is a huge difference. The women in the south look very unhealthy. Not to mention, obese.

Do you know ALL vegetarians? If not, you have no basis to make the generalization that they are all sickly looking. I, for one, am not sickly, scrawny, pale, pasty, or any of the other things that you people seem to think vegetarians are. I rarely get sick, I compete in endurance sports and I regularly get compliments on my skin from complete strangers. I find it hard to believe that if I was sickly looking that complete strangers would feel compelled to tell me how beautiful and glowing my skin is!
Vegetarians have less heart disease, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, elevated cholesterol, prostate cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer and kidney disease and we live 6-10 years longer. THAT might be a little clue as to why we believe it's healthy!

That is not entirely true. And please don't that all vegetarians are sickly looking. There are some vegetarians who look bad because they don't get enough protein and don't take time to plan their diet. But, a well planned out vegetarian diet is actually very healthy. I hope I helped.

Sorry I haven't seen every vegetarians in the world but from what I have seen not all look healthy but definitely not all look sickly. I'd say no more or less than those who eat meat.

Not all are, but I have known some who just stop eating all animal products, even dairy, and do NOT learn how to get enough protein in their diet. They live on bread and rice and pasta, and ignore the foods that would provide the nutrients they really need. I have no respect for these people, as they generally think they are better than others because the are "vegetarians" or "vegans". BUT, they neglect to learn how to eat to stay healthy.

That is a total stereotype. I have been a vegetarian since age 4. I am almost 14 now and I am totally healthy. I eat a normal, well balanced, nutritional diet, I run track, and am growing normally. Being a vegetarian is healthier, if you do it right.

FACTS tell us that a vegetarian diet is healthy. Just because you know a few vegetarians (presumably) that you don't think look healthy does not make it so. Maybe you should look into something before you just go blowing it off. Research PROVES a vegetarian diet is the healthiest diet of all.
