I was diagnosed with bronchitis(acute) tuesday, got meds and cough medicine. I had sinusitis two weeks before that, which I guess turned into bronchitis. I've never had it before, but I've had upper respiratory infections, dozens of sinus infections, etc. I've had bronchitis since sometime last week and worked thursday, friday, and saturday night. I was off work this thursday, took off yesterday, but not sure if I should go in today, I haven't improved much, still coughing, feeling achy, and running a slight temp, sometimes woozy?(meds?). I wouldn't worry about going to work, but i'm a waitress. Help!.

Thanks, both my parents smoked when I was younger, one did up till I graduated H.S. But I'm also a preemie, so that probably has a lot to do with it. Thanks for helping like I said I have never had it before, so I don't know a whole lot about the severity.

I would not go to work if you have bronchitis, for one because you work around food and 2, it's that time of the year when everyone is getting sick and bronchitis is very contagious. I'm asthmatic and when I've gotten bronchitis, I end up in hospital for 2 days to over a week. If you must go into work because you do not have sick or personal days, ask your manager if you can do a hostess position instead of serving (because of the food). But in my opinion, stay home an extra few days so you can heal properly and not risk making others sick.

Well, if you're a waitress, I'd worry about juggling all those plates while woozy! It doesn't sound like you have to worry about infecting someone else, but your customers wouldn't know that as you coughed you way around their food. Best stay at home at least until your cough goes away.

BTW, is there a smoker in the house? Sounds like something is seriously interfering with your respiratory system.

Ask yourself, "would I want to order a meal from a waitress who is coughing all over the place?"
Take the extra day, and I hope you feel better. Bronchitis is a pain, isn't it?

If I were you, I wouldn't. Especially since you are a waitress and handling food. I wouldn't want to give my customers bronchitis

If your running a temp you shouldn't.I've had bronchitis lots
and it can last really long. It's as bad as pnemonia almost.
Make sure you have a cool mist humidifier in your room
and ask you doctor if you can have a inhaler helps clear your lungs quicker. Hope your feeling better.

Don't bother going in, people will not want you as their waitress. They will think they are going to catch something. Stay at home and rest till you are all better.
