Yes, some STDs can cause sterility if they are left untreated for a while.

Not only can they make you impotent (erectile dysfunction), they can make you sterile if left untreated, namely chlamydia, syphilis , and gonorrhea.

Syphilis can cause brain damage, disfigurement and death if left untreated. And disseminated gonorrhea is not a pretty sight either.
