your food? It is all about the animals we do not need to enjoy food. Food is a substance and that is it. I think it is a conspiracy started by the evil resturant people. What do you think?

Yeah...evil...those restaurant people are so evil. I'll mention that to my server next time I'm at Outback having a nice juicy slab of beef and a lobster tail.

I'm a vegan, and I love to eat. When I have a good meal, I can rave about it for days. I love NYC because I eat really well there. I guess you could say I'm a bit obsessed with food. If ever one could become a vegan foodie, I'd sign up!

Your disdain for those of us who love our food is your problem. Out of all the crap Big Food foists on us, the conspiracy that we need to enjoy food isn't a conspiracy theory I subscribe to.

I happen to enjoy my food & have several favorite restaurants, especially the vegan Chinese place in our area. I also love Indian, Thai & Greek cuisine & can whip up a tasty dish or 2 of my own.
While I do think it's important to enjoy one's food, I think it's a myth that vegetarian or vegan food can't be scrumptious. There's a carton of Soy Delicious in the freezer, calling to me right now ;-)

We evolved tastes buds so that we could enjoy food (and to help detect toxins) so that we'd be encouraged to eat as a species. :) And, since in the distant past we didn't exactly over-eat, we evolved to like the taste of things that are high in calories, as well as those things that are 'good for us'.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying your food. There's plenty of food out there to enjoy from non-animal sources.

Well, food it meant to be enjoyed.
This is why we have taste buds.
We taste food, and if it's tasty, that means it's good.
If something about it doesn't taste good, then maybe it's poisonous or gone rancid etc.
Food being tasty is what it's all about.

But what is enjoyable? Salt, sugar, deep fried...
Most vegetables, until recently, were all very bitter, especially all of the leafy greens. We have become accustomed to very highly palatable foods as we have bred plants to be less bitter and more 'tasty'. I'm sure our ancestors thought that bitter greens were actually tasty, but for our modern times, anything bitter is repulsive as we hardly eat bitter foods anymore.

Also, we become programmed from early in life to what foods we grow up with. This is because our parents are supposed to know good from bad and we are to be programmed with this knowledge. But, unfortunately, the knowledge of knowing good food from bad food has been lost many people and they pass on false knowledge to their children who grow up craving and liking and finding bad foods very tasty and they actually enjoy foods that are very bad for them, and very much non-foods.

OK, end of that line of thought...

Ashley, my dear, for once you are on to something!

I love to cook and eat, and I agree with you, that when I jump on the scales in the morning, I wish I didn't enjoy it either! Damn people for making food so good! I think it is conspiracy by the diet industry to make food so tasty!

Somehow though I guess this isn't what you were looking for!

Even then, people who don't eat any animals or animal by products still can eat very tasty satisfying meals. The myth is that you can't enjoy a meal without meat. I've been a vegetarian/ walking on the line of vegan and I am completely satisfied with my meals

Ashley is a troll but a troll with a clever sense of humor. She always makes me laugh.

Now if only we could get Ashley trapped in a dark and lonely place so we could mythologically whoop her evil behind.

I think you have an eating disorder and an unhealthy relationship with food. Normal people enjoy eating, even vegans.

You don't HAVE to enjoy your food. Heck, as much as I'd like to be a carnivore, there are a few meatless dishes I realy enjoy (mmm.. pasta).

that said, I preefer to eat palatable foodstuffs than something that tastes like the inside of a rat's $$$.

Well, speaking as the Biggest Most Immoral Troll Ever, I would say because we want to. Enjoy our food that is :-)
