I'm sure you all know I don't believe this. Most of you know that. It sounds ridiculous doesn't it?
Well, so does you all saying that the bad publicity that soy gets in a conspiracy brough on by the meat industry.
Krister---all of your information and links are part of the conspiracy against the meat industry.

I think I've shown clearly that many of your minds are slammed shut tight.
Here, in a nutshell, is your logic:
1. If it's pro-soy it must be true.
2. If it is anti-soy it must be meat industry propaganda.
3. If it is anti-meat it must be true.
4. If it is pro-meat, they'll say anything to sell their product.

krista----see that's where you're wrong. I'm a meater who acknowledges all of those things. But I also acknowledge the dangers of things I don't eat too. I admit the meat industry is brutal. I'm not in denial.
My point in posting the question was to show how ridiculous veger look when they claim conspiracy for EVERYTHING that contradicts their beliefs.
Read and comment on the USDA question and you can see conspiracy in action. The real kind.

Meat eating is immoral and the meat industry knows it and vegetarians have them running scared. I think the meat industry will collapse by the end of this year.
You are still the MOST IMMORAL TROLL EVER!!!!

The research on meat has been carried through peer reviewed, epidemiology studies.
1. If it's pro-soy it must be true.
-Nope.I've done my own research on soy.
2. If it is anti-soy it must be meat industry propaganda.
-Most of the time it is.Why else would any group have a reason to attack soy? Like I said, all of the negative things I've read about soy have come from Mercola and Weston A. Price and a website(which I know you sourced earlier) called Soyonlineservice, which featured the president of WAPF on it's mainpage.
3. If it is anti-meat it must be true.
-Nope.There are studies that are ubiased and peer reviewed about meat.
4. If it is pro-meat, they'll say anything to sell their product.
-They've done it in the past.

No. I don't think it's a conspiracy. I believe the bad publicity meat is getting are actually facts and the truth. If anything, it is the meat industry trying to delude the public into thinking their products are great and healthy for you... and they are succeeding! Everywhere you go, meat and animal products are implanted into your subconsciousness. Since we were capable of understanding what we see on tv and in ads, they sold us meat by making a hot dog into a cartoon and by making this attractive meal with cute little crackers and like-sized cheese and meat slices called Lunchables. Just look at all the "doctors" and "nutritionists" who fall into the "meat is healthy for you" crap. They are teaching us what the government has taught them! Look at all the commercials for restaurants and grocery stores.
The only way one would actually find information on meat being bad is if they stepped out of the norm society has put in place. When one starts questioning why there are so many people getting cancer and so many people dying prematurely, you have to question what is to blame here. Food plays a tremendous role in your health.. with environment, personal and social activities, and other factors coming into play also.
The vegetarian industry is the minority here.

This is truly hilarious. Do you have any earthly idea of how well-funded the meat industries are? If anything, they are guilty of a massive conspiracy given that they are responsible for much of the "educational materials" kids get in school about "nutrition." We don't need to engage in a conspiracy against them. We are David with a slingshot full of good science going up against a government-subsidized Goliath. If we're making any headway it's a victory *against* the conspiracy.

If you are really interested, you should read Diet for a New America (or Food Revolution, though I haven't read it yet) by John Robbins and The China Study to learn more about the correlation between and increase in the consumption of animal fats and protein and diseases that are common in the Western world such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and many others.
We don't need a conspiracy. We have a myriad of peoples and cultures with which to compare our dietary choices and our most serious ailments.

I highly doubt 60 minutes was 'conspiring' with the soy industry when they did a feature on what happens in slaughter houses. Plenty of other reputable media sources have investigated the factory farms of our day... The only people who I see who are closed minded are those who refuse to see the truth about how animals are treated, and how they're pumped with hormones and antibiotics (not good for us OR them btw), for the appetites of consumers. People who like meat just don't _want_ to know those things 'cause they know that it might make them uncomfortable about eating their favorite meats.

Hm, I can't think of any bad publicity that meat gets.
Never seen any bad publicity about meat on TV....
Nor heard any on the radio... hm... where is all this bad publicity? Publicity is generated by money, and who's going to pay for bad publicity against meat? No one. There is no huge vegetarian organization out there that could afford such publicity that I am aware of. Sure, they do a grassroots sort of campaigning etc. and might once in awhile get themselves on the news for stripping naked in front of McDonald's... not much of a conspiracy... no...

Not really.
For better general health you should limit the amount of animal protein that you eat. Enjoy a good steak, just not all the time.
Remember, moderation in everything. Including moderation itself.
