I did a 50th party for my dad...

we used Orchids.....cream and pink with just a touch of brown

it was very elegant and great even for a man.

I'm a big fan of ivory and dark purple. Maybe with gold or pearl accents.

Or, what's her birthstone? You could work that in somewhere as a main or accent color.

silver white and black ( i hate to say blk but its so elegant) i wouldnt reccomend u using black anyway.

for my grandfather we stayed away form black and used t3 differetn shades of clue
baby blue, reg blue, and dark blue.

oooh it just hit me burgundy and gold w hints of chocolate brown (i actually got three swatches of those colors and they look good. make burgundy primary color and accent with gold and choco- brown.

i also happened to see a weeding with a similar color scheme in HGTV (it was gorgeous)

I would go with ivory & a pale pink. It's elegant and mature.
