I was at a party and someone made these and they were cute...

Witches hats:
Keebler striped shortbread cookies - the round ones.
Hershey's kisses

Unwrap kisses. Melt a couple of the kisses in the microwave to use as a glue. Turn cookies upside down so that the bottom of the cookie - which is solid chocolate is up. Dip the unmelted kiss in the melted chocolate and put on top of the cookie. Instant witches hat.

The person that made these took some icing pens and added a band to hide the seam between the candy and the cookie - she used an orange color. It was really cute...

we make "chocolate mice"!!! they are really cute! u need hershey kisses, the cherries in the jar (marishino or something, the ones with the stems) sliced almonds, chocolate bark, and red and white cake decorating gel!!! just dip the cherries in the chocolate (melt it) then stick the hershey kiss on the tip of it and lay it on the side where the stem is pointing upward, (like a mouse tail) then place two slices of almonds in between the kiss and cherry for the ears, and place a little red dot on the tip of the kiss to make the nose and two little white dots for the eyes!!! may sound complicated but they are fun and easy!!! and they taste GOOD!!!!! good luck and i hope this helps!

Get clear plastic gloves (non-powdered). Put a piece of candy corn in each of the fingertips, then fill the rest up with popcorn and tie them closed. Someone did that in my son's class last year, and the kids loved it. It's also very easy to make.

Well, unfortunately, I happened to get stuck watching the recent Martha Stuart Halloween episode with my mom. She made white chocolate ghosts on lollipop sticks. Just shape them and refrigerate...simple.

i think you should make fall cookies like leaves or ghosts or witches hats. you and your son could both do this together, and your son will get to spend some time with you, and will most likely enjoy making the cookies.
if not, little kids love rice krispy treats. there are lots of fun things you could do with them.

30 people. Mostly children?

Hmm. watch the sugar and salt.

My personal preference would be to offer to buy the paper plates, cups & napkins etc.?

Orange juice (REAL juice - not soda-pop) - I'd say maybe 3 gallons.

Apples - or apple slices and caramel sauce ( you can get these in individual dipper cups if you wish) or little paper cups filled with peanut butter.

How about rice crispy treats? Those always go over real big for little kids. I did that for my son and his class last year and they were a big hit! You could decorate them with plastic spider rings or something like that.

sure, you don't even have to cook, get clear, gloves,( not the powdered ones, you have to eat out of them) like the disposable ones, put candy corn in the tips of the fingers, and fill the rest with whatever, i would suggest popcorn.
